Transformers 2 Devastator Toy Details Revealed?

Recommended Posts

Alot of how good or bad this is depends on how many constructicons are used in the gestalt. If it is 9, like some of the rumors say, it's a bit ridiculous that they wouldn't have individual robot modes. Having Longhaul for example being devoted as Torso part one, while another is just Torso part two, is absurd.

Right now it sounds pretty lame, but I'll wait to see how it's executed before i jump to any con clusions.

I think in both toy and movie we're looking at one giant robot - like the Longhaul concept art - who will have multiple other robots combine onto him.

I'm not sure people are preparing for themselves for how different a Bay gestalt will be when compared to the typical group of humanoid robotss become another humanoid robot with a very clear "I'm the arm, he's the leg" transformation.

Agreed, I'm sure the individual robots will become a mass of parts that are randomly relocated all over the gestault.

It's a bit lame that they'd even consider producing Transformers that didn't transform...oh wait, they've done that before! How'd that turned out for ya...

That's not what's being reported at all.

I'm getting reports of a douche in this thread.

I'm pretty sure this was attempted 25+yrs ago.

Just ask Voltron Space Force about it.

I'll reserve further judgment because :pics

I have no problem or qualms with a smaller all vehicle based combiner sold as a set that snaps together to form the super robot. It's a cheaper option and better for kids. I do have a big problem though with the larger versions being released without the ability to combine however, because that's going to be the one that everyone really wants.

Oh yeah, this makes sense. Maybe this is just ONE toy of Devastator. THAT would make alot of sense. But to have a MOVIE combiner that doesnt have a toy that can turn robot to construction v., to form the large gestalt is just WAY to hard to believe. So thanks for shedding some light on this Impaler :wave

And i agree with Hobbes about Dev. being incredibly complex and different then any weve seen. BE PREPARED PEOPLE!

Other wise Gestalts that cant break down into robots is :lame

Oh and about the 9 vehicles. Its not gonna be nine robots by the reports. But more like a few vehicles will transform and combine into ONE robot as well as others just being one bot = to 1 vehicle. The reports say 9 construction vehicles and 7 cons. So 4 vehicles will turn to 2 cons, and 5 will be single most likley ;)

I know I didn't just misread the quote:

"most [of the] construction vehicles [are] just transformable drones as a part of Devastator, [with] no robot mode."

Drones that don't transform into robots...now there's some definite interest in the following quote, but it falls a little short of expectations:

the non-transformable vehicles "will get Deluxe versions [that] can transform to robots, but I [don't] think [the] Deluxe versions [will] combine."

My question to the latter is "Why not?"

My question to the latter is "Why not?"

Because the movie gestalt design is likely too complex to render in six inch plastic and have it transform into vehicle and robot modes and gestalt piece(s). So, Hasbro is creating toys that go from vehicle to robot and separate toys that go from vehicle to gestalt piece(s) in order to retain as much accuracy to the film as possible.

It seems pretty simple to me. :shrug
