Hold on now. Bay admits that the fans were completely right on getting Peter Cullen for Optimus Prime. I don't see where all this hate for Welker as Soundwave is coming from. I thought Soundwave was one of the best voices from the original G1 cartoon after Optimus and Starscream.

Dude, you wouldn't even be able to tell if it was Welker or not. Everyone sounds the same doing the Dr. Claw voice. If you gave me a vocoder, I could do it.

2) I'd venture to say that most people couldn't tell the difference between Frank Welker and that kid that played Corky in Life Goes On doing the voice of Soundwave.

"Leverage" would be getting Michael Bay to do something he otherwise wouldn't be inclined to do. He cast Cullen because he was impressed by his audition, not because "the fans wanted it". If Bay hadn't been impressed with Cullen, it wouldn't have mattered if Cullen had presented Bay with a vial filled with the salty tears of a thousand fanboys -- it wouldn't have happened.

JMO but Gary Chalk > Peter Cullen when it comes to Prime. But I still agree Cullen as Prime kicks ass.

Anyway, like LM said Bay cast Cullen because he liked what he saw out of Cullen. His choice had nothing to do with what the fandom wanted. Bay did what he wanted. It was just a lucky coincidence that in the case of Prime's v.a. Bay's desire and the fandom's desire matched up.

The fadom has no leverage, no say in anything that happens. We're just along for the :awsum ride. Enjoy it rather then looking for something to complain about.

 

Anyway I wouldn't be opposed to Welker playing Soundwave at all. I just find it humorous that the fandom is claiming that Welker is the only one who can do Soundwave justice.

 

Welker over Weaving for Megatron though? What is this, 2007? Come on. Weaving ROCKED as Movie Megs.
