Frank Welker as Soundwave, anyone?

Recommended Posts

Frank Welker has been directly contacted by Paramount Pictures through the U.S. Postal Service medium, reports Moonbase 2.

Co-caster of the program KalelPrime, who has contributed to our own TFormers Podcast, says on Episode 26.5 that a reliable source working for the USPS has informed him that Paramount Pictures has sent a package to Mr. Welker.

Obviously, the contents of the package are unknown (something about Federal laws), so we can only speculate as to why he was contacted.

The hopeful transfans within us can only hold out hope that it has to do with "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

Could be. Maybe they liked his voice work when he auditioned for Megatron, but decided that he could be good as a character in the next movie?

Or, they sent him something for any number of films to a man who is listed as "additional voices" on damn near everything ever created. Ever.

These "news" stories remind me of the TVTropes Wild mass guessing page, and on that note. Frank Welker is a time lord.

*Nothing against the news team, you report everything someone (..me) complains, you report only stuff of earth shattering importance and youd have nothing to do for nine months a year.

Gee, do you friggin' think?

I'd love to have Frank come back as Soundwave, but keep Hugo Weaving as Megatron. Frank's Megatron evokes thoughts of bumbling '80's cartoon villains--most of which he voiced--but Weaving's is more threatening, more of what the average non-Transformers fanatic would imagine a big scary genocidal robot would sound like, not like Dr. Claw talking into a tin can.

Whoo! A little angry today, aren't we?

This is possibly GREAT news! Frank Welker as Soundwave for ROTF would be kick azz! He is the epitome that is Soundwave. :thumb

1) I know what was in the package, a TRU-exclusive Reissue G1 Soundwave in Classics packaging because like everyone else, Frank Welker couldn't find one of the damn things.

2) I'd venture to say that most people couldn't tell the difference between Frank Welker and that kid that played Corky in Life Goes On doing the voice of Soundwave.

:pfx for great justice

If you can do a "Dr. Claw" voice, you can do Soundwave's voice.
