I think the reason TFs took off like they did were because the toys had a great mythos backing them up. These aren't generic killing robots, they all have unique personalities. I think the toys and the mythos go hand in hand.

depends on which version your talking about.

G1, the show was infinitely better than the toys imo, sure i love the toys, but they just kinda sat there for the most part. i truely believe thqat without the show, the toys would not have gotten into as many hands as they did.

post G1, definately the toys, i mean look how much the technology has advanced since then(even though you gant maim someone with a solid metal brick of a toy nemore) but now they are superposable well balanced(for the most part) and even more realistik, just compare bw megatron with g1 grimlock, or Optimus Primal with apeface, not even in the same league when it comes to realism, tyhere are some flaws, but come on light years ahead of what we new in the 80's. but then again tf was an established toy line and cartoon and so the execs were able to become more creative and experiment more with what can be marketed.

so the toys and shows are more or less equal in my heart, the too go together too well to truely keep them separate, but my respect goes to the marketing.

The toys.

And because it is the toys for me it is why I am so damn particular about which one I get.

The comic books and Toons lack a dramatic and suspensfull element for me.

Neo Geinses Evangelion (guessing on spelling here) is, to me, the best robot toon ever made and I have yet to see anything that could hold my attention for as long as that show did.

The only Tformer story line that remotly interests me is the Energon starscream / walking dead vampire thing that is developing.

toys for me but gotta have the show and stuff or else who would we know well with out their characthers in the show
