really... you have to live here to understand it.. and it also helps if you teach conversational english classes to adults and try to engage them in some current events topic....... Primal-Convoy probably gets it.

It's like when someone gets annoyed at you and instead of telling you why, they give you the silent treatment.

 

 

Imagine that on a deeply ingrained cultural level. Try to ask someone a question they may not be comfortable answering in order to make them think, or even try tp get someone to do something in a company without having to wait three weeks so they can ask other people and not have to accept any responsibility personally, and you get the standard "Japanese seek harmony" speech.

 

It gets old.

Sounds less like Harmony and more like alienation.
