Identity of Chevy Corvette in TF2 Revealed SPOILERS

Recommended Posts

And ya know, I kind of overlooked the "GM Commercial" aspect of TF1 (partly because Bumblebee was the only one that made me think "GM" and partly because Barricade looked like a Ford), but they're making it harder now. It's getting a bit overly convenient that these Autobots all happen to turn into cars from the same manufacturer.

Yeah. And if keeps costs down so they can blow more money on the budget for CGI and explosions, I'm fine.

:shrug just sayin'

I think I'm experiencing an Alternators-esque letdown, now that I'm realizing that we're not going to be seeing the Autobots turning into some real foreign exotic cars.

Of course, you can debate the logic of turning into any kind of exotic or "standout" car in the first place, but considering that every Autobot in TF1 was either heavily customized or not in production yet... yeah

I don't mind the movie bots being "normal" cars. I DID mind the Alternators being normal cars, as they had nothing tying them to "reality" except G1, thus making more sense for them to be tied as closely to those subject vehicles as possible.

Yeah; how many "normal cars" carry arsenals that would get them banned in fifty staes, and all US-owned territories? (We won't even mention NATO. )

My point was that the movie bots weren't normal cars... FLAMES ON A PRIME'D

I can see that argument to a point; They were all normal vehicles with varying degrees of customization. It was still more believable than friggin' Lambos everywhere.

And I've seen semis with wackier paint jobs, but that's probably partly due to living in the South.

The '08 Camaro wasn't even in production yet... the Solstice doesn't come with a hard top... that thing that Ironhide is, who the hell knows what that even looks like without all the stuff on it... and Ratchet I think was a Hummer originally? Prime was pretty much a kitbash from what I've heard.

Point being, the G1 bots were made into all these fancy cars because they looked cool. I think it's fair to say that the movie bots were also made into a bunch of fancy cars because they looked cool (at least to Michael Bay).

So it's not like there's any more "realism" going on with the movie; it's just two different expressions of the same "we want these robots to turn into cool cars" mindset.

Except this time, they're all GM. :tflaugh And they're also one-offs; at least the G1 cars were mostly production models that you could actually buy, if you had the cash. (I've seen a Countach on the road; I've never seen anything that looked like the movie bots.)

Well, to be fair, the first film pretty much established that the Autobots are, whenever possible, actively going to scan the coolest thing around. Jazz went all the way to a car dealership to find his alt. mode after landing in a stadium with a parking lot full of cars...

...not that the Autobots being vain to the point of sacrificing their in-disguise-ness until they can find a cool car makes it better...

That was him? I thought he landed in the field... eh they all look alike

personally I think the Mazda RX-8 is a lot cooler than a Pontiac anything Solstice.
