Now I had G1 Broadside as a kid, so I'm fairly kind on the guy when compared to other TFans. I'll go so far as to say that a Broadside repaint of Armada Tidal Wave would be pretty cool. Maybe even a new head sculpt to go along with it.

 

Objectively though, Broadside sucks. A triple changer who's both an aircraft carrier AND a jet fighter? WTF?

TFers have always had scale problems, but that's just to much.

Besides, he was a loser in the fiction anyway. In no way does Broadside deserve a new, G1 accurate triple changer mould. Sorry, he just doesn't.

point 1: this post is about RE-makes not RE-paints.

The two are almost mutually exclusive. A good repaint can make the perfect re-make.

Example? Universe repainting Cybertron Sideways into Ratbat.

 

point 2: You don't have to be "in no way" "Fairly kind" you just need to be "objectively" and bring some fresh ideas. (Not A-Zero ideas).

point 3: If you think a TF sucks or is a loser, then think about how it WOULDN'T suck or be a loser anymore.

In actuality G1 Broadside sucks because one of his alt modes is a boat designed to hold hundreds of jet fighters, and his other alt mode is one of those jet fighters.

In the fiction he was a bot who transformed into an aircraft carrier and a jet fighter, yet he got sea sick and was afraid of heights.

The character :fails at every level.

 

point 5: If HASBRO has issues with scales or sizes, well, then let them know (just as were are doing it here) how they can deal with them.

This is amusing. You think Hasbro, a multi-billion dollar company that's successfully remained in the top of its industry since it's foundation in 1923, is going to listen to what any of us, who have zero experience in their industry, have to say? This line of thought is just as amusing as those who think internet pensions will work.

Hasbro knows that TFers have always had scale issues, and they do their best to work around them. You can never eliminate scale problems, due to the very nature of the franchise.

 

Now going to the possible ideas.

BROADSIDE could have this based on Alt. modes:

 

 

if the C-130H Super Hercules could be just a little bigger than the Lockheed C-130 Hercules the GF Dreadrock/Jetfire was based on, then we could have a winner.

None of which even come close to matching the mass of an aircraft carrier.

With the Armada Tidal Wave mould you get multiple alt modes (three boats), an aircraft carrier (combined alt mode), a robot mode, and a third "space cruiser" mode (flipping the wings up on the combined alt mode).

The mould seems like it would be perfect for an updated Broadside.

 

But what do I know, I'm just a hack who wants to kill the dreams of the all-knowing Fandom :shrug

My problem with making Casseticons is that the concept of a tape player with cassette minions is laughably obsolete.

So much so that Hasbro hasn't even made a new Soundwave to accompany these bots.

 

So Legends Ravage is an accessory to a toy that's 20+ years old.

 

I would be more interested in seeing how we could reimagin Soundwave/Blaster into a coherent modern altmode.

The idea of a stelth bomer with the bombs transforming is almost cool - but it would be more interesting IMO if there were a number of additions to the jet (almost like Jetfire's armour) that each had a unique function and a unique Bot-mode.

 

I also like the idea of a News Van and/or pimped out Scion/Pickup - BUT I think the options are limiting....

 

I want the Ravage/Hound set, but Ravage as a Tape = :fail :fail :fail :9000

Yes let's keep this line of conversation going. Slamdance 2 pack yes, Beastbox 2 pack yes yes. Slugfest, and Overkill again yes. Ramhorn, and Steeljaw yes. More legends class/ Deluxe class upgrades of minibots yes.

making cassette bots is l-o-o-o-n-g overdue imo - sell a 3 pack at deluxe price & kids will snap them up! (face it fanboys - we are not the people that pay hasbro's wages) plus i think more deluxe figures should be released (they're perfect "pocket money" price)

If the Cassette bots were brought up to date it would be more interesting for their alt forms, since there are so many different possibilities.

 

Though for Nostalgia purposes if the old molds still exist (which I'm sure they do) you can reissue them.

 

After looking over my collection earlier today though. I now know the next 3 that I hope Hasbro would release in all new molds

When TAKARA reissued SOUNDWAVE & SOUNDBLASTER in the TFC series a few years back, i was (as many like you) waiting for the "Big Micro-Cassette boxset" a la Autobots Mini-bots. and then.....Nothing!; then they reissued BLASTER & TWINCAST and then.....Nothing!.

 

I'm still waiting for those sets, hope they came to be someday. I think the sets could be:

Also there exist the AUTOSCOUT & the ENEMY Microcassettes that have never been cast in plastic, maybe they could have a chance these days.

 

 

ENEMY is supposed to be a RUMBLE/FRENZY mold but in orange color; there's also in the G1 cartoon MTMTE ep2, (when Megs assemble the 'con strike force) you can watch in the background, an obscure YELLOW RUMBLE/FRENZY type 'con.

 

IMO if it were confirmed, he could go by the name of Cyberton/GF mold for SCRAPMETAL.

that is 'cause IMO we had in that toy series SCRAPMETALS in BLUE (FRENZY), RED (RUMBLE), and Yellow.

the fact that they released a rewind/eject repaint with twincast yet failed to released rewind & eject really confused me... :wtf

 

even an ehobby release would've meant i could get my hands on them! :(

They probably don't think they would be worth making. If I didn't have the vintage I would go after them to complete my collection
