U.S.S. Flagg. G.I. Joe Aircraft carrier. I had a friend who had one.

 

Yes, i know what is the GIJoe U.S.S. Flagg, the one that was the coffee table for the Hasbro executives back in 198?; It's just that McHammer likes to over exaggerate about some replies.

BROADSIDE has to be a new sculpt, in leader or ultra class, and also a Triplechanger like his former G1 toy.

I think "U.S.S. Flagg class" might be a better starting point.

The thing was 6' long, and that is actually 1:24ish scale. So LM that is in fact too big. Supreme class that is about 2' in Aircraft carrier mode is fine. The figure itself would be 1.5', and the the arms above the head(underside of carrier) and the jet's wings(the carrier deck) equal 1' which added together is 2.5'. See totally doable, and not too small.

If BROADSIDE was to be supreme class, then what about Omega Supreme? and Metroplex?

 

The Cybertron/GF METROPLEX is a little taller than leader class, What about UNICRON and PRIMUS they are Supreme, right?

 

BROADSIDE (if he ever is to be remade) needs to be at least leader class, not taller.

 

the only Supremes if they are ever to be remade, should be:

 

a new Metroplex, Omega Supreme, Trypticon, Metrotitan, Grandus, Fortress Maximus :tflook and (maybe) a new Headmaster Scorponok.

Now I had G1 Broadside as a kid, so I'm fairly kind on the guy when compared to other TFans. I'll go so far as to say that a Broadside repaint of Armada Tidal Wave would be pretty cool. Maybe even a new head sculpt to go along with it.

 

Objectively though, Broadside sucks. A triple changer who's both an aircraft carrier AND a jet fighter? WTF?

TFers have always had scale problems, but that's just to much.

Besides, he was a loser in the fiction anyway. In no way does Broadside deserve a new, G1 accurate triple changer mould. Sorry, he just doesn't.

just make the triple-changers deluxe & get them done cheaply (obvious answer)

point 2: You don't have to be "in no way" "Fairly kind" you just need to be "objectively" and bring some fresh ideas. (Not A-Zero ideas).

point 3: If you think a TF sucks or is a loser, then think about how it WOULDN'T suck or be a loser anymore.

point 5: If HASBRO has issues with scales or sizes, well, then let them know (just as were are doing it here) how they can deal with them.

 

Now going to the possible ideas.

The two are almost mutually exclusive. A good repaint can make the perfect re-make.

Example? Universe repainting Cybertron Sideways into Ratbat.

In actuality G1 Broadside sucks because one of his alt modes is a boat designed to hold hundreds of jet fighters, and his other alt mode is one of those jet fighters.

In the fiction he was a bot who transformed into an aircraft carrier and a jet fighter, yet he got sea sick and was afraid of heights.

The character :fails at every level.

This is amusing. You think Hasbro, a multi-billion dollar company that's successfully remained in the top of its industry since it's foundation in 1923, is going to listen to what any of us, who have zero experience in their industry, have to say? This line of thought is just as amusing as those who think internet pensions will work.

Hasbro knows that TFers have always had scale issues, and they do their best to work around them. You can never eliminate scale problems, due to the very nature of the franchise.

 

Now going to the possible ideas.

None of which even come close to matching the mass of an aircraft carrier.

With the Armada Tidal Wave mould you get multiple alt modes (three boats), an aircraft carrier (combined alt mode), a robot mode, and a third "space cruiser" mode (flipping the wings up on the combined alt mode).

The mould seems like it would be perfect for an updated Broadside.

 

But what do I know, I'm just a hack who wants to kill the dreams of the all-knowing Fandom :shrug

So there we go. Ultra Class Universe Broadside (with G1 toy) ...and his repaint, Universe Tidal Wave.

I, too, owned Broadside as a kid, and I would totally buy a retooled Armada Tidal Wave version of him. It's pretty perfect, considering the multiple boats all combine into a big jet/spacecraft thingee.

 

Repaint the "Ramjet" Mini-con into a G1 Silverbolt/Jetfire/Powerglide Homage, and it'd be pure win.
