Megatron never seemed too keen on blending in from the beginning. It kinda seemed like he was going to land on Earth, take the cube & mess around/blow up the monkeys w/ their primitive technology, and continue with universe domination. This alt mode would still fit that inconspicuous-because-I'll-just-blow-you-up attitude the first movie Megs had.

Besides that, this will make a much cooler figure. Even with his head exposed, at least it's not just sitting on top of the damn thing saying "I can't see you so you can't see meeeee!"

To weigh in on the cybertronic megatron vs. dinobot debate...

This actually shows a certain level of character consistency. Megatron, in the first movie, was the one transformer who flat out refused to "go native" and acquire an earth alt mode. And while we all assumed that was just cause he didn't have time, the writers suggested it was because he was "proud and vain." Well, if these images are true, that continues it. This Megatron is one who just won't go earth. He'll switch up his altmode, but still be cybertronian in design. And that's just the way he likes it. It's a conscious decision.

Meanwhile, Grimlock in T-rex form just comes off as "He was TRYING to go native but bungled it by choosing the form of a long extinct animal, there by having a useless disguise! D'oh!"

galvatron'D

If it is.... it is a GREAT alternate form for him.

blows the first design out of the water

quite literally...

:lol I just wanted to get a reaction. Relax.

at last - someone here that gets dry INTERNET humour :thumb

that bugged me so much in the movie when Prime told Sam Megatron's plot to use the Cube to turn earth's shit against them how the F**K did he know? and when megatron first crashed the only life would of been pond scum and it didn't help when Sam the repeated it to the sector 7 guys when they first arive. I'd much rather belive he wanted to take it and just go nuts with power

I also agree about the jet mode... at least now the people who did like transtech can have their little bit of fun

Love that vehicle mode. Just hoping he kicks some a$$ this time around. The only Decepticon that had any large number of kills in the end battle was Starscream, and that's due to his mobility in the air. If Megs ground mode fares as well as Brawls, I'll be disappointed as hell.

Well actually, It was Ratchet, not Prime who said it, and he was pretty much deducing what Megatron would most likely do to Earth's current technology more so than what Megatron had planned all along.

Regardless, this is the alternate mode Megatron should have had from the start.

i'm quite sure he says "he plans" rather then "he would" or "he could" but hey I hope I'm wrong

I didn't pay to see (althought I did see), the first installment of Transformers and I refuse to pay to see part 2 on the basis that so many major ugly changes have been made to the original transformers character concepts. I don't get Michael Bay's logic at all. He wants them to look "alien" so he puts teeth and claws on them. But these "aliens" speak an earth language (English) to one another; makes no sense. Why don't they all speak to one another in their native alien Cybertronian language; or better yet, since they're so "alien" and advanced, why don't they use telepathy or some form of radio-frequency communication. That would fall more in line with Michael Bay's "they need to look like aliens" concept. How can a character like scorponok be an "alien" if he has the body design of an earth creature (a scorpion)? Michael Bay said these "aliens" wouldn't need a space ship (The Ark, the Nemesis) to arrive on earth because they're transformers; they can just transform themselves in space vehicles. Why would these "aliens" even need 2 eyes, a mouth, a nose with nostrils to breath earth air, 2 arms and 2 legs. This crap makes no sense because Bay's character changes make no sense.

I have to admit though, the movie actually was very good plot-wise and action-wise, and humor-wise, but the total complete doing-over of these characters was not necessary to execute a good plot. If you had kept the same basic conceptual designs, or even used the Alternator/Binaltech updated designs for the movie, the plot still would have been very good, with lots of action, and humor. But whatever, I guess I'm just one of those batchy, whinny, complainy G1 dudes who can't get over his childhood.
