Seems suspect. Red Alert and Hot shot were going to be characters on the show until they were replaced with Ratchet and Bumblebee to dove tail with the movie better.

 

But if it is true, let me posit a far strung theory: Galvatron and Cyclonus will turn out to be the future versions of Megatron and Starscream, and there will be time-travel antics to explain this. In fact, Megs and Starscream probably go on a time travel adventure subplot and it all comes together in the season finale.

I do hope this is not the case. Personally I would like to see Galvatron and Cyclonus has their own unique characters. None of this upgrade crap.
