Alternators Hound Question

Recommended Posts

Is AT Hound painted like Silverstreak? When I bought the BT Hound I was happy with the feel and detail and overall packaging. But when I saw that the intire rear section of the car was plastic and still looked very good, I started thinking I could have waited for the AT version. If they can make the back look metalic, they can make the front look that way too. So, I guess I'm asking for any one fortunate enough to own AT hound or both AT & BT, what is the quality of the AT version's color. Is it close to the BT or is it exact.

the paint is very metallic looking... the fleck paint lends itself well to the dark green, however, i am angered to report that they failed to use this paint method with Alt Deadend.... he is flat black

Hound has the metallic look to him for sure. Can't say about D-E yet though, I don't have him.

Thanks. I should have waited but I'm happy I have atlease one BT. Does any one know if there is some easy way to shine up the flat colored alts with out painting or damaging them? Like some type of wax or something?

Hmmm.....I don't think you can use wax on plastic.

Just to clarify, I don't think Hound is actually painted, rather he has those metallic flakes in his plastic-Compare to RiD Sideburn or SuperMode Prowl- Makes it look awesome, and it wont chip.

you could try a nail buffer, but i'm not sure what that would do, i don't really think there's any way, unless you just put a clear coat of nail polish on him like people do fake jewelery to make it shine like it's real, that might work.

I've heard of some using mild acrylic floor waxes (like Future) to give a gloss finish to plastic models, should work on the Alt's plastic. I'd go with a couple of thin coats.

just tape over the windshield, interior and headlights... and just dust it with some clear coat. Dont try to paint the whole thing, and dont use to much, you may run the clear... but if you aim just above it and let it just float down it will give you a small amount of sheen and not really change the look.

Just an idea.

I don't recommend that method, because getting a coat of sealer on it that isn't fully covering with make it look speckled and actually more satin, than gloss..

Here's what I recommend...take off the clear parts, and tape off the back window...Gloss spray the car parts, but NOT the robot parts...let it dry for an hour or two in room temperature before you touch them....I recommend using Krylon Fusion Crysal Clear gloss coat.
