2008 SDCC Day 1 - Universe Classics 2.0

Recommended Posts

I consider Acid Storm to be a big dork slap in the face to everyone who complained about the seekers.

Plus, 20-yr old second-string repaints are ghey and I like Acid Storm's colors.

i consider acid storm to be slap in the face to fans period. thats a great way to sell toys, let me tell ya :roll

it's called Universe Classics for a reason >_>

But it's not. It's just called "Universe." The fact that there are "Classics-esque" figures in the mix is a simply a bonus.

orly? :orly

Christ, people are fire exit-retentive about stuff.

What's worse then that? Being fire exit-retentive and wrong. Universe is more then just "Classics."

Seriously who f*cking cares. "Universe" is Hasbro's catch-all brand for anything non-mainline, they have different sub-brands within that brand. SO WHAT

where fans, you expected less?

honestly, i'm tired of the whole botcon seeker thing. yea it sucked, get over it. i'm just glad they're releasing the seeker mode just so i can get one to try to paint as thundercracker. i'm sure reprolabels will have a stickersheet up sometime.

which tag does acid storm carry? betcha it'll be classic series.

Which is perfect seeing as he's an update of a G1 character, like most Classics Series figures.

i refuse to recognize him as thundercracker, he's not blue. :truthy

Which is, of course, the funny thing about all of these guys... THEY'RE ALL THE SAME TOY :tflaugh

You know, if Animated released all 6 Seekers people would batch that they should have done that with Classics. Therefore, the whining about Classics seekers is a perpetual machine that will never go away. It's like knowing your mother-in-law will inevitably visit your home every X months. You have to learn to deal with it or it will eat you apart.

It's like having an elephant that's living underneath the coffee table. Everyone knows it's there, but they feel awkward talking about it. So they just let it stay there and don't say anything about it.
There's a difference between keeping something similar for brand recognition, and because the fans demand it. See the two following examples.

A kid walks into a shop, sees a cool transforming robot toy. His parents go "Oh hey, Transformers Optimus Prime, yeah sure" and buy it with little fuss.

A kid walks into a shop, sees a cool transforming robot toy. His parents go "WTF is Changetron Vexan Rangor? Are you sure you don't wan this Star Wars figure?"

And there were TONS of people upset about the BotCon seekers on TEH INTERNETS. Go into your workplace and try asking people to sign a petition to make the seekers mainline releases, and see how far you get.

TONS of people (men and women) always thought my transformers were cool when I bought them on my lunch break and kept them at the office until I went home. However, I didn't influence anyone to go and buy their own due to how they were gigantic fans of the cartoon when they were six. They just thought my hobby was "neat".

edit: Assuming I'm unaware that people like exclusive figures when I have more that fifty times as many posts as you is a bit rich. The reason why exclusive figures from BotCon command so much is that they are extremely limited (usually somewhere around 1500), and there are maybe around 3000 people who want them. That doesn't mean that if Hasbro makes 200'000 of them they'll fly off the shelves into the arms of loving adults everywhere. For example, Ramjet was a well known shelfwarmer, however if he was part of the BotCon set people would have been saying how well he would have sold at retail and how stupid Hasbro are.

Siburke, I'll post it in the Shoutbox once or twice a day for you. :tfevil

your examples make no sense (to me) and i've seen proof to support otherwise

i never said have the figure be produced on a 200,000 figure scale

there was a demand for the seekers, a demand that hasbro could tap into

the internet is a HUGE place

you incredibly underestimate the size of adult collectors in the transformers fandom

i never said anything about fans demanding anything. those lines that i mentioned before and all of the lines that you can't mistake being geared more for older collectors.

i guess we can each think our own opinions are correct. there's no point in making point after point after point and neither one of us budging on our views.

i don't think so, i know all i wanted was a thundercracker, i mean i would have liked the rest of the jets but i think those were good as botcon exclusives, just not thundercracker. but now the people who wanted a thundercracker are able to get it for about $70 which isn't bad.

i don't think anyone would start up complaining about the classics seeker situation if animated mass released the rest of them. i think people would be happy that hasbro did it the right way this time.

although i would be happy if they only did two more other than skywarp, or three more, i don't need all of them from the show, i could just repaint the regular starscream into the ones we don't get.
