Will there ever be a Wheeljack Reissue?

Recommended Posts

Takara already did that for the RID line. Hasbro just came up with safety law excuses, then finally agreed to release it, only to decide at the last minute that they would not release it with no explanation.

And then mysterously there is a BIG release of the toy in Korea. I was happy. I got one for $100.

How much did you pay for shipping? That was the nut-breaker for many. I remember HLJ wanted $80 just to ship.

I got my Brave Max when it first came out...I think it was $150 shipped.

They'll release Wheeljack eventually, along with Sunstreaker, Mirage, and the rest.

HasTak once stated that they plan on reissuing all the cars from the '84-'85 lineup. Hopefully they'll do the '86 ones to, to keep Hot Rod and Magnus company.

As for Shockwave, the mold is around somewhere. I think we might see that one and some of the other "impossibilities" after HasTak has finished using the molds they already have the rights to. I'm hoping to see the Dinobots, Constructicons and Galvatron as well before this is through.

Do you think it would sell if someone did reissue it?

I'd buy it. :tfgrin

I got my Brave Max for $125 at the 2001 Botcon in Durham, NC. He looks great next to my Fort Max.

And a side note I hope they never have a Botcon or OTFCC in NC again that had to be the worst location to have a TF convention. They are roads there that aren’t even listed on road maps; I even saw a road that said both directions was north. :tfhuh

I would love to see the next one in maybe Virginia, Tennessee, or even Georgia.

Oh yeah, I also have a mint Wheeljack too. He was one of the robot points mail order figures. Let’s see I got him, ratchet, sunstreater, hubcap, cosmos, warpath, reflector, and thundercracker all that way in the late 80’s so they are I mint condition.

I got my Brave Max for $115.25 shipped from Image Anime back in Feb. 2001.

I would love to see Wheeljack reissued. I miss that toy. :(

:pfx despite the small legs and arms like an orangatans I still liked it....gonna go and look on ebay now ;)

when thye go on about molds being damaged/missing they are talking out of their a@@es, if they can gear up for band new figures they can set up a brand new mold for an older figure, the fact that the figure exists is a massive plus, technically speaking I could get a wheeljack take it to bits and then create a mold, how do you think so many knock offs are out there.  Problem is they (has/tak) will be listening more to slicks in suits than their core market.

is it physically possible to shape a mould based on an already existing figure? i'm talking about the engineering aspect. Moulds have to be sculptured from scratch. I don't think they can just use an old one to shape a new mould unless it is sand casting.

and yes, new moulds are actually based on prototype figures for the shaping, but it would be very unconventional to use a manufactured product to act as it's own mould.

2 ways to do it you can make a mold from anything thats physically solid, sculpters have been doing it for centuries, original toy or not or you can input all the info into a CAD program and even use lazers / aqua formers to create the new mould. In the classic car market a $8 million buggati royale was replicated by Tom Wheatcroft exactly (admittedly it cost him 3 million to do) using moulds taken from an existing version and original designs. As this is an immensly complex and huge pre-war car there is no good reason why they cannot repair/remake a mould aside from economics. They will gague what they think they can sell and factor the cost, I am sure they would make money on it, even in the creation of a brand new mould, but the fiscal returns on an existing mould are far faster.

I am sure we will see the rest when they have exhaused what they already have available. (I`m ever the optimist)
