Will there ever be a Wheeljack Reissue?

Recommended Posts

Jetfire is bandais mold. Shockwave and Omega Supream are also off limats.

but there is something i never understood. If Bandai owns the Shockwave mould, why not just let Takara manufacture and market it with the condition that Takara pays royalty, or homage to Bandai? What does Bandai get by keeping the mould in thier closet?

Jetfire is bandai's the Shockwave company went out of buisnes.

then where is the mould?

when thye go on about molds being damaged/missing they are talking out of their a@@es, if they can gear up for band new figures they can set up a brand new mold for an older figure, the fact that the figure exists is a massive plus, technically speaking I could get a wheeljack take it to bits and then create a mold, how do you think so many knock offs are out there. Problem is they (has/tak) will be listening more to slicks in suits than their core market.

I think part of the problem is the extra cost that goes into making a new mold(opposed to just re-using an existing one), and if it's being sold to such a small market, it's just not worth it to them. Unlike Energon, where people of all ages grab them up...

is it physically possible to shape a mould based on an already existing figure? i'm talking about the engineering aspect. Moulds have to be sculptured from scratch. I don't think they can just use an old one to shape a new mould unless it is sand casting.

and yes, new moulds are actually based on prototype figures for the shaping, but it would be very unconventional to use a manufactured product to act as it's own mould.

welcome noob

I think it was posted here a long time ago that the mold for wheeljack is unusable, along with several others. but I would love to see that too, G1 wheeljack is the only g1 original transformer Ihave, he is in pretty good shape, but I need to retouch his white paint cause he is mainly diecast I would like to have a reissue that I could swap some parts off of though

Takara did go through the trouble of repairing the damaged Sondwave mold, so it's still possible.

SOundwave would be cool..............but what about a Fortress Maximus re-issue? :drool

FYI, Shockwave was made by ToyCo of Japan. You may have see seen a grey version called AstroMagnum that was the original. That toy also showed up in the USA at Radio Shack under the name Galactic Man. It is a real Astro Magnum in a new box.

That is a good question what happend to the mold. I'd guess if Takara's have a hard time restoring their molds, that one is long gone.

Do you think it would sell if someone did reissue it?

Takara already did that for the RID line. Hasbro just came up with safety law excuses, then finally agreed to release it, only to decide at the last minute that they would not release it with no explanation.
