Hello...

 

So I just won a bid on ebay for a Unicron complete (w/ minicon) for $30 shipped...I was STOKED!!!

 

I have been watching bids go too high and missing bids left and right for months now. I wanted to do a repaint of the Unicron similar to the one I saw on Transtopia. After winning the bid I hit my favs links and was shocked to learn site is now down

 

The piece I am looking for had a TF the Movie repaint. Specifically, the rounded parts on the side of the lower legs were painted black and speckled with silver paint to resemble stars.

 

I really liked this job and wanted to use it as a guide to repaint the one I just got, but I have searched Google and other kit basher sources and have come up with nothing.

 

If anyone knows WTF I'm talking about please post a pic here.

(on a side note, my seller surprised me with a first. They contacted me stating that they overcharged me for shipping and wanted to return the extra $2 overage...I, in turn, told them to keep the $2 as their honesty was payment enough. I have NEVER had anyone from Ebay be honest about shipping cost...NEVER. Usually I see at least a $5 difference from the shipping cost on the bid to the actual postal cost on the package. I guess there is a first for everything!!!)

As you can tell this bad boy was made from Armada Unicron with some help of scratch made chest and head areas. I gave him the classic Movie Color scheme by dying the yellow a darker orange and painted the other areas white. I wanted the shells to blend in and give a feel of outer space behind him by taking a junk toothbrush and dipping it in silver paint and then flicking it upon the black surface to give off the feel of stars behind him when the flash from the camera reflected off of it. I also give him a hinged mouth to give him just a little more personality as well as use drops of Crazy glue placed randomly on the wing details and then dyed it orange. Afterwards, I chipped the glue off to show the off white underneath to seem as though lights were illuminating from them.

That happened to me recently too. I won a lot of 4 alternators at a price which worked out at about $20-$25 AUD each INCLUDING POSTAGE (a decent price considering they were $30 in ToysRUs back in the day) and was refunded $14 in shipping overcharges. The honesty amazed me, I would have thought they would have just considered it a bonus and kept it, especially since the ending price was so low.

It seems the world is not such a bad place after all.

Dunno what's become of Transtopia's galleries, though, and a quick search of the forum topics didn't find me anything about the Unicron custom you're looking for.

Yeah, I found the forums, but the site has been up for some time, even had an update at the end of last year and I would say about 2 weeks ago the site was still kicking.

 

I really like TFmasters work. Maybe we can find some shots and get an admin to make a perma post to him. I think its deserving.
