Anyone else hate eBay?!?!

Recommended Posts

I've purchased a Classics Devastator for US$65 from eBay since last week, the item's location is on Hong Kong, and still haven't arrive here. -_-

That's why I don't like using Ebay : impatient buyers. :) Do you know it can take more than a week for a parcel to go from one place to another WITHIN Canada? Seriously.

I hate ebay because snipers make winning auctions so difficult and frustrating, you have to become one if you want to win anything yourself.

The damn snipers. I get sniped all the damn time. it happens while I watch... usually with less than 10 seconds of auction closing.

I miss Yahoo Auctions for that reason. If, within the last 10 seconds, there was activity in the bidding process, the auction autoextended another 2 minutes. That way, the snipers would be somewhat foiled. I suggested it to eBay several times, but they keep replying that it would 'circumvent their security'. w/e

eBay's recent fees, along with their increasingly aggressive attitude with sellers, has really turned me off to them. Since they're a monopoly with no real competition, it'll stay that way too. They need a real threat to change their ways.

The KOs I'm smart enough to maneuver around, and the fees don't really concern me since I don't sell on there.

I'll admit it: I'm a damn dirty sniper. Always have been. Like some others have stated, I'm not going to play King of the Hill for a week, just for bragging rights...waiting for someone to shill it up past where I'm willing to pay. I pick how much I'm willing to pay for something...then I tell my sniping software to bid that much at ten seconds till the end of the auction. If someone else is willing to pay more, then fine -- their bid automatically overrides mine, and they win. But with enough diligence and patience, I usually find what I want, for the price I want.

What I really hate about ebay are the people who try to circumvent the fees by selling items for cheap, with insane shipping. Like seeing a 30$ figure for 10$ with 25$ non-combinable shipping fee? Are you kidding me?? I've started regularly leaving bad feedback for sellers who are deceptive with their shipping -- If you charge me 20$ and it arrives in a Priority mail box with a 5.85 postage sticker on it? You're GONNA get bad feedback.

That, and people who outright lie about the quality of the stuff they're selling. I can leave all the feedback I want -- it doesn't change the fact that people routinely send out garbage; junked loose toys (and even bootlegs) described as "complete, good quality" but arrive missing arms, legs, etc...All it takes to get away with it is blurry, carefully positioned photos and an "I don't know much about these, sold as-is" disclaimer. It's enough to make a guy swear MISB only.

Also, you might as well forget about buying game boy games on Ebay...the counterfeits and bootlegs are so numerous and convincing that you're more likely than not going to get a bootlegged chinese copy instead of the real deal. Even gamestop employees don't know the difference -- my friend and I found many of their GBA games to be total fakes!

yah. it's mostly the seller fees and the inability for sellers to leave buyer feedback that have really pissed me off. That AND paypal takes a healthy share as well.

I may buy from ebay in the future, but not nearly as much as I used to.

I've used eBay and I've used the End Cap here.

on Ebay I sold a higher percentage of my stuff, and everything spoken for actually got paid for promptly.

I like Ebay.

I can still leave feedback to my buyers...

Weak.

I've had zero eBay problems, but I've only made, maybe, a half dozen eBay purchases ever, most - if not all - of them being BINs, and I've never sold anything on it. Most of my collecting is new stuff anyway, and on the rare occasion I'm buying something older, I like to see it in person before paying for it as often as possible.

Ive got a 2005 Botcon Ironhide I want to sell but I dont know if i want to use ebay. any suggestions? I also was interested in maybe trading it for something else? anyone?
