At least Arcee could pass for a real name

Arcee is passable as a real name but I personally would be embarrassed to have people laughingly calling me Optimus Prime. Where I'm from that wouldn't fly. And if I didn't have a fiance' I would never get one or a girlfriend for that matter. My huge collection and legal name of Optimus would make sure of that.

For all of you that just dissed me and my daughter, You ought to be ashamed of yourselves! And you call yourselves Transformer Fans! Obviously NOT if you're going to insult me for naming my daughter after a Transformer. Arcee Alessandra is her name and I am damned proud of it. Sorry for not naming my kid after a friggin Barbie Doll or Bratz doll like all you other simpletons do. I DO NOT appreciate the comments made towards me or my daughter. If you want to consider me sick minded, then that's your problem. But I'd think better next time you go and call yourself a True Transformer Fan. Transformers were around before you were born and they will be there after your dead and gone. They play important roles in people's lives, such as Optimus Prime's. You should respect that. And you need to ask yourself why do I collect them? why do I like them? Everyone has their own special reasons.

 

I have friends in high places, that's how I found out about this topic on this board as well as other boards. Now Optimus, I say to you..............

 

I respect what you did and I respect the fact that you are bragging about my daughter, but I would have respected it more if you had confronted me first and asked me about putting my personal business on other boards. What you have done is cool, but after seeing what these people are saying, I DO NOT appreciate the crappy comments And as these comments are insulting my family, I had a right to know. Had it not been for my "friends" I would have never known. So before you go around telling everyone my business, I would appreciate it if you tell me and tell me where you are posting about this so I can see and make sure no more of these idiots open their mouths with such insulting crap. What I choose to name my daughter is my business.

Hrmmm, let's see. 2 people said it was a bad idea, 5 thought it was okay to good. What's your problem? Did you honestly not expect to get comments when you name someone after a Transformer? I don't think these comments were a personal attack on your family, rather the idea in general of naming a person after a Transformer character. Hmmmmmm..........Well let's see.........I am Staff at two TF's boards and it's funny how on every board I go to, I get nothing but compliments about my family, but then one day someone decides to go behind my back and go to other boards and tell everyone and half of those people make cruel comments. If someone told you that you were sick minded for naming your kid after a Transformer How would you feel? But yet a person can name their child michelle or cindy and there's a barbie doll with that name, but that child doesn't get ridiculed. Or naming your kid Jasmine after a Disney movie cartoon, that child doesn't get ridiculed. But yet, Transformer "fans" ridicule the name Arcee for a child.

 

And again, I am only "freaking out" to the people who made those insulting comments. And I have every right to "freak out" When you have children and you take pride in what you do and what you have, then you'll understand where I'm coming from.

 

It's funny, I don't see anyone making fun of the soldier who legally changed his name to Optimus Prime. hmmmm......so you tell me.

I love reading posts like this. I guess I can't be a True Transformers Fan© because I think it's silly to name a person after a cartoon character (even though I'm one of those old farts who used to watch -- and tape -- G1 when it first aired).

 

I guess I have to consider myself Not A True Tolkien Fan© either b/c I'm not going to name my soon-to-be-born baby boy "Elrond" or something. Oh well.

Actually he is a dumbass and Iwould tell him too his face... but he made an adult decision. This is no knock to you but when we as parents get creative naming our kids it causes heartache down the road. we named our daughter bailey. sounds simple enuff, but what if she falls in love with a guy whos last name is bailey... that is most of the people on this boards concern. I am sure you are a perfectly good parent, and I am sure Arcee will be very successful...
