I've been away from the work bench for a while, due to a busted camera and a heavy work schedule, but I finally got a chance to dust off an old idea from the pile. I picked up this little guy in a set of no-name beast formers around Christmas. I actually had a set of these guys when the original Transformers were a bit too expensive for my Mom to buy me as a treat for being good while she shopped for socks. Looking at him again after all these years, I realized that he might make a smart Senator Ratbat, as he appeared in MEGATRON ORIGIN. He was all black to begin with, but the purple paint job was enough to satisfy me while I was working on other projects.

These little hinges are awesome. I got them at the doll house section of AC Moore (a craft store here in the US). I strongly recommend them them. They come with their own little nails. I drilled out holes for them and then glued it all together with Krazy Glue.

I'll put up some alt mode pics when every thing sets up. This Aves stuff takes forever to harden.

I know he obviously can't be a straight-up bat if this is his pre-war mode, but I haven't quite worked all that out yet.

Looks good, however, and this is my personal preference of the character, he should be less bulky and more sleek. Like the War Within version. After all, this is a senator, upper-class, who has no real use for a strong and bulky body.

Spookily i have that figure & thought about doing a WW ratbat with it a while back.

Obviously it ended up in the ever growing pile of stuff that i will never get round to doing.

looking great so far,Ratbat never gets enough attention IMO.

I got that figure back when i was a kid in a three pack with a Peacock & hawk transformers.

Youre sig is slightly scary Tom Servo.

At the moment it's a bat, but I might make it a bit more cybertronian. I want to make his wings more like how they appear in the book, so I'm thinking that he'll be a sort of a jet-bat thing.

I actually agree, but I'm working with what I've got. I could always just customize a non-transforming action figure, but where's the fun in that. Besides, this story makes Ratbat one of the oldest transformers, so shouldn't he look a bit G1?

Right on! This set rocked about a million years before Beast Wars. Remember the spider? Anyone who can give me the original name of these guys (if they even have one) would rock my world. Don't give up on that pile. This boy had been in mine for months.

LOL still have that spider,if i remember correctly he came with a blue version of barrage & a gold re-tooled Ransack.

They made great reinforcements for my decepticons back in the day.

Wish i could remember what they were called or who made them.
