Is the current generation, G3?

Recommended Posts

We all know G1 pretty well.. and we all know G2 came and went. So the thought in my head recently, is that are we currently in Generation 3.. or is it like Generation 1.2 or just an extension of G2? Would Beast Wars qualify for G3, being it was a totally seperate idea from the norm, kind of like G2?

I mean, if you really wanted to get techincal, all the A/E/C series could easily of been seperate Generations as well, but I don't mean to nit pick.

Perhaps I'm just thinkin too much. :tfevil

The short answer: No.

The long answer: Since G2 is in continuity with G1, the only viable option for G3-ness would be the Beast Era, but since the "Generation 2" label was an official designation by Hasbro (making the "Generation 1" label official by default), I'd say any "Generation 3" would also require such official labeling instead of just fan designation.

I'd say the only real contender for that title was the Beast Era, as it was a new generation of Transformers that followed G2 and stayed, for the most part, in continuity.

RiD and the Unicron Trilogy each existed in their own continuities and started their own generations, and Animated has started its own generation/continuity as well.

G2 actually called itself "Generation 2"

unless something comes along and calls itself "Generation 3" then no

so does masterforce, headmasters, and victory fall under g2 or is still g1?

Is the All-spark power line the new G2? Its a line of mostly repaints with a few new molds, made to cash in on the popularity of the previous line. :tfevil

And isn't there an in continuity time gap (where G3 would be) between G2 and BW?

But the question now is, if this isn't G1, then is it G2 still? .. or maybe we're just in Generation Limbo.. caught between both and neither.
