I'm going on a work trip to Beijing, China and was planning to buy some Transformers.

Now, does anyone have any first or second hand knowledge about the Transformers toy selection in Beijing? Is it similar to Hong Kong for instance? There are probably all kinds of knock offs but I'm more interested in about genuine TF toys. Is it possible to find Japanese variants or Japan exclusive items. What about those knock off reproductions like Wheeljack or Mirage, or the Dinobots? I might consider Wheeljack and Mirage for their packagings and Swoop would be great souvernir.

It's all Hasbro stuff, unlike Hong Kong which is mostly Hasbro stuff but occasionally get some Takara stuff (e.g.: Pepsi Convoy).

I never found scrap out there so I'm :fail.

I got my Cybertron Galvatron and Snarl when I was in Beijing in 2005. All the TFs I saw there was Hasbro stuff, including some stuff which never came out here, like Alternators Swerve - which in hindsight I should've bought. Ah well.

When I departed Beijing Airport, a customs officer was searching through the contents of my backpack, which had Galvatron and Snarl in it. She looked at Galvatron and asked me what it was. So I told her that it was Galvatron, leader of the Decepticons from the planet Cybertron who have come to Earth intent on conquering it (insert extensive speech about Transformers lore). :P Hey... she asked! :P

Should had elaborate and told her that Transformers:Cybertron was a bomb.

Hasbro eh? I guess I have to put my hopes on finding some Alts that I'm missing.

What about those bootleg G1 repros? Any chance of finding those? Or are those Hong Kong exclusives too?
