So...

Using this concept, how would you do it?

What figures would you put in the set?

Which (if any) would you remould?

How would you colour them?

Or do you think it's already great as-is?

(Please post pics if you make/photoshop any!)

Well Prime would be mostly the same, it's a reversal of colours after all.

Jazz would be black like stepper.

Energon Towline as a black Ratchet or ironhide instead of Goldbug.

Iwouldn't of wanted to buy the set at that price even if it was perfect.

Yeah, Jazz would probably be painted as Ricochet. It could be all black with some sinister looking flames painted over the front wheels that cover the majority of the doors.

Goldbug. What should have been done last year, just make a Goldbug head for gold colored Classics Bumblebee.

I wouldn't have used so many Classics molds. Classics was in retail just a few months ago so another chance to get those molds isn't a big deal. I'd have used the Armada or Cybertron mold for Optimus Prime and Beast Wars Transmetal Megatron for Grimlock (possibly with a remolded head.) Goldbug would have remained about the same, as would Starscream, but Jazz's colours would be significantly changed.

I also might remove one of the Autobot figures entirely and replace him with another Decepticon.

Energon Towline as a black Ratchet or ironhide instead of Goldbug.

I agree, Towline was already used as Botcon Ironhide/Ratchet, so a black version for either one (red or white highlights) would work well.

I WANT that voyager Starscream mold, its impossible to find for a good price (60+ is too much for a voyager). I would like to do a Scattershot with that mold, then do a full Computron, went with a Stormjet instead due to cost. This one won't be any cheaper likely.

Other than that, I would like to see another Decepticon, but not Megatron...he would be evil in any universe NEVER GOOD!!!

I would leave out Razorclaw and add Cybertron Defense Scattorshot, with a new head and a grey/black/blue colour scheme as the heroic Megatron.

Also, instead of evil Jazz, I would have painted that mold as an evil Prowl, and had him named "Barricade" :P

I would've kept Optimus Prime. I like it & it fits the concept perfectly IMO.

I really like Grimlock. Looks evil with the Trypticon colours, but still looks like an evil Grimlock.

I don't get what Goldbug is all about??? I would've done the Classics Rodimus in Starscream colours.

Razorclaw just seems lazy to me. I would've used Armada High Wire (generally recognised as an "Autobot" Minicon) & done it in purple with yellow highlights. (Similar to the Armada Sideways / Robot Masters Double Face colour schemes. Semi-evil looking!)

Starscream is just Jetfire. I think the Cybertron Soundwave in Jetfire colours would've retained a bad-guy shape with good-guy colours. I like the idea of Soundwave leading the Heroic Decepticons...

...plus the Laserbeak could be done in Armada colours: Orange with blue highlights.

Jazz is just err... Jazz!?! With some graffiti! I don't like that mould anyway. I would've used Cybertron Sideways in red, with a Sideswipe-style head & called it Thundercracker.

Ricochet is a big steaming pile of fail IMO. Another Cybertron Sideways in yellow, with (you've guessed it) a Sunstreaker-style head & called it Skywarp.

1 Voyager, 2 Deluxes & a Minicon per side. Evil (Classics) Autobots versus Heroic (Cybertron) Decepticons. :thumb

I would've liked to have seen the black and purple theme carried out through all the figures to make them seem like more of a set. imo, the previous Botcon exclusives were far better, this set doesn't have a single piece I'd be bothered to have in my collection, and I am puzzled as to why they sold out so fast.

Anyay, here's my attempt at a digibash as to how I reckon the set should've been done... well, at least within the constraints of the amount of time I was prepared to spend doing this...

I'd retool or even remold them as modifications of familiar alt/bot modes, so they're somewhat the same char but with more differences than just color. I'd have a story along with it. The expenses would skyrocket and Botcon would go out of business. Man, that would be so awesome.

Edit: I'd make the Autobots an aggressive expansionist demographic of civilians thirsty for economic growth and resources against other planets, and the Decepticons the Cybertronian military bound to follow the will of the populace. It'd be a stronger caricature of US imperialism. "Prime" would be an elected office, and Optimus a former head of the military with Megatron now serving in that "office".

First thing...Goldbug has gotta go! That's the one figure I'm not really feeling. The head just looks so out of place.

Starscream's mold is a good choice but I don't get why they painted him to look exactly like Jetfire. When I was a kid, I always kinda saw him as a possibly once good guy that went bad. His color scheme just didn't seem to reflect his character. In that regard, the colors didn't really need to change that much to give him a more heroic appeal. They should have just given him classic red and blue colors with more flair.

Prime is obviously a must. Hard to argue with the choice of Classics Prime. I kinda think they would have done Nemesis Prime but SDCC probably already had the rights to do it. At least that's my guess. It's not bad, but I think it could have been a little better.

Cyb Downshift as an evil Wheeljack.

I like the idea of using the Stepper/Ricochet colors for Jazz. If it's gonna be a backwards reality then none of them should look too close to their original self.

Grimlock would have to go to seeing that I think the mold is too flawed to be used for an exclusive that is such a high price. Instead I would probably replace him with CD Hotshot with a re-molded head as Soundwave and also retool some of the missile launchers with molded in speakers that could be used to deliver sonic blasts. Gotta leave him some missiles though. (perhaps a good kitbash idea!)

That's what I'd do for the box set.

For others...

CD Scattorshot as Megatron (just to keep scale with Prime). Hell, we had CD Red Alert into Megs last year so we can do Scattorshot this year and next year they can do an all deluxe set and use Hot Shot for Megs for that.

It would be nice to have at least a Thundercracker and Skywarp to compliment Jetscream but that would be too costly unless they used something like the Energon Starscream mold but then there's scale issues which people don't like.
