More expensive, yes. Oversized? Not necessarily. Bad figures? No (movie Leader Megs aside). For people worried about scale, features and in many cases, accuracy, the price tag is justified.

in most cases, yes they do fail.... there are a few exceptions.

 

cybertron metroplex makes one tall, lanky robot... and he has that huge walking stick...

 

in my opinion they tends to be "oversized deluxes" for example energon megatron, huge bot but very simple transformation, could've easily been a deluxe.. he came out as a voyager which i heard was better but i never could find one...

If you're truly upset at the cost of a $40 (retail) toy, you my good sir are probably in the wrong hobby. I hope you have no intentions of trying to go back and pick up any of the past figures you may be fond of, they get fairly pricey really quick, and don't get me started on Pre-TFs. Personally I love bigger toys. I was really bummed when I had to get rid of my FortMax, but one day (perhaps) he shall be reclaimed. Eagerly anticipating the day that I can afford to finally pick up a Victory Saber giftset.

 

In recent releases, Leader Prime is by far the best Movie Prime figure, and you can't even begin to pretend that Deluxe Brawl is a better toy than the Leader class version. I'm not a big fan of gimmicks, so the lights and sounds I could do without, but that's kind of irrelevant.

Lights and sounds aside, the Leader class still is full of awesome. Look at Movie Prime or Movie Brawl. And being used to buy $100-200 figures on a regular basis, I don't find $40-60 figures expensive.

Other than new release purchases, I don't think I've bought anything in the last few years that was less than $200.

I like my TFs big. If If I'm gonna buy anything, it might as well be the best depiction of the character there is. Also bought Movie Leader Prime the other day and he's awesome. :D
