I like the gun.

It took him two years to kill those guys, and even then he only managed it because he was imbued with the magic power of "new toys to sell", which meant he had to die, too. Most of Megatron's screentime in G1 is full of failure.

 

I'd like to point out it's a cartoon with silly altruistic american ideals "the good guys always win". AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

 

Real world...they don't. If you want a better definition of this paradox watch the beginning of Swordfish and listen to the narrative between Travolta and the FBI on movie concepts.

 

There are a few films that are consdiered gritty by that standard, and usually shelved into miserable put-on-the-TV-late-nigth-on-a-Friday when no-one cares too much etc.

 

Back to Megatron. Burned into my psyche is the gun BUT I would like to (as they did on one of the IDW comics had him reformatted to some kind of tank, but in his colours whcih I can work with) Tank or Gun in Bone white or silver...I think colour is a big factor for me with him.

As inherently corny and flying in the face of all logic as it does, Megatron will always be a Walther P38. Failing that, anything bristling with weaponry.

I think Megatron had some pretty cool ideas. I mean it was an 80's cartoon,so they could only do SO much. Also, the Autobots had their fair share of 'Retreating' too. And without the Tactical Retreat,the show would've been over in the first season. :tfsad

I've kind of thought about something along these lines. If Optimus Prime is a semi/fire truck that combines with his trailer, why not have Megatron be a tank turret that combines with the rest of his tank?

 

Think about it: The turret of the tank could also transform into a gun of some kind as well as transforming into Megatron. Or Megatron can combine with the rest of the tank to form a Super Mode of some kind. Done well, it'd be a homage to just about every Megatron ever (and hey, maybe the body of the tank could also transform into a T-Rex thingy of some kind as well as forming Meg's super mode...).

You got Optimus Prime and Megatron confused. Optimus Prime runs away from battles and Megatron starts them.

It doesn't help that the Autobots always win via deu ex machina. The Movie is the most notorious example of that. The ONLY good thing about the first movie is killing off that dictator Optimus Prime and made room for a new leader.
