BotCon 2008 Details, Figure Set Revealed

Looks like Classics molds..?

Prime for sure. Jazz looks to be Cybertron Smokescreen's mold. That's the shoulder of Cybertron Hotshot next to prime...as Goldbug? Grimlock is the Classics mold, no doubt. Perhaps that Black and Purple prototype people were calling "Classics Trypticon"...although that thing surfaced a long time ago.

Hmmm.... Interesting but why can't we just get some cool looking toys as limited or special editions without all the goofy made up stuff?

I've been thinking about this myself but this idea could see that happening... i hope

I think it a little late with the mirror universe concept laid down.

I find most of the club product to be too exotic to relate to most of the time. I want something special from the club, not just different.

I'm sure it's a balancing act, as anyone who was around last year could tell us. They're convention exclusives, so if you make them so "mainstream" that everyone is going to want them... well, you end up with a ton of fan angst, since only a few fans (relatively speaking) are ever going to get them. So I think it's in their best interest to go obscure / "exotic", since BotCon attendees (and the people who would be willing to plunk down $100s for the toys) are probably big enough collectors that they would want obscure/exotic toys more than most.

Right. Case in point? The Seeker set.

seeker thinks this will not be as good as the seeker (heh) set from last year.

seeker doesnt have $100's to throw down on these....

seeker just got back from Los Angeles and cant stop talking to the third person

seeker wants all of you to youtube Metal Skool

seeker wishes botcon would have better exclusives.

(sorry)

If that is Cybertron Hotshot next to Prime (I'm still not seeing it) then I'm thinking he might be Jazz and the Crosswise mold is Goldbug since it's a shorter bot and rounder car. Kinda screws up things for Jazz, but makes a better Goldbug. Then again that could be Grimlock and Jazz we're seeing and Bumblebee is something else entirely.

Better for us who have to listen to the whining - YES I AGREE. :lol

But why not make something more people want at a better price point? I don't see how creating something for the 1% (if that many) of the Transformers fans in the world at steep prices is good for anyone?

Today's club is geared towards the elite fan. Which brings me back to my point. Its too exotic for my tastes. I like my coffee black and strong. I also like my Transformers the way they were in the shows. No coloring, fillers or additives. No alternate this, or nemesis that, or pre, post, time-slip, tripped-out, acid laced made up cyber-stuff.

Give me Prime and Megatron in celebration not redecoration! :D

Until then, I ain't gonna join the club. More for you guys I guess. :thumb

Thank you. Nothing exotic about Seekers. Yet people went ape shit for them.

Mix of Classics and Cybertron molds. Jazz is obviously based off the Cybertron Crosswise mold. I think it would rock if they used the Voyager mold for Starcream. Getting that mold via the TRU 2pk only in the states was kinda lame. The minicon though... I can't remember off hand which Cyb molds besides Vector Prime came with minicons. Or was he the only one?

My GF Screamer hasn't got any but Armada and Energon have and some of the GF exclusive minicons in japan had handles moulded after thier armada release like the fire truck and helicopter.. thing so the SS toy might not even need to have minicon ports

well they could just use all this mirror verse as a story for some toys that are just made to look nice

but i do agree about what their pumping out I too find it a little too wacky to be seen as a adult collectible and i think since they are aimed at the older collector with a extra bit of income they could pander to the adult collector and pull it off

It's nice that they are making a "take it or leave it" BotCon set; nice to have but not a must have.

it is.

I guess I'm not seeing it. The left leg looks too spindly, the Autobot symbol is too small, and the overall shape of the shoulder isn't right. What part of that looks like this?
