Guess the non-G1

Recommended Posts

The character below is not a G1 Transformers character. However, I decided to do it in a quasi-G1 style, as a low-polygon game model (for those curious, it's 1985 triangles, or counting quads instead total 1094 polygons). It's currently mapped and rigged but untextured, but the intended texture sheets will be simply Diffuse, Bump, and Specular (yes, Bump, not Normal Bump). This is the result of about 3 hours work so far.

Now, any guesses on who it is?

Heheh.

Got 95% of the diffuse and bump done, still gotta make the specular. The only 5% of the diffuse and bump left are the hands.

Very nice! The texture map is lookin good. Can't wait to see it with the highlights after you add the specular map. My only thing is, I thing you should add more facets to the tires on the shoulders. The wheels look hexagonal.

hey small foot, what's crackin? u come round here often? ;) have u done any other characters Val?

Actually, they're octagonal. But the intent was to get the figure down as close to 2000 tris as possible, thus the faceted look there. And, yes, I should have saved a few polys elsewhere (though I'm not sure where) and put them on the tires, maybe made them 10-12 segments around instead of 8...

Just a few. Some of my more recent:

armorhide04.jpg

(Has a melee attack animation where he transforms, and rams an opponant in 'truck' mode.)

(Obviously based on the toy, not the movie character. Does not transform.)

and:

jetfireWW03.jpg

(Transforms to jet mode for his "flight" animation)

Overall, I did about 60-70 "GeeWun" characters based on their cartoon appearance (and a couple that never appeared in the cartoon), a few War Within, and now it's just random ones that strike my fancy.

Those are good! I really like Armorhide!!!! What software do you make your models with?

I use 3DS Max to make the models, themselves, and Photoshop to texture them.
