The Official "Animated" Schedule and Discussion Thread

I think Animated Ultra Magnus would be the first to tell you that dickishness is a point of view. ;) He obviously doesn't put a lot of faith in Optimus' abilities, and judging from what little we know of Prime's past so far (i.e. academy washout), he may be justified in believing that. After all, Prime is the one working the Blotty blue-collar job, and Magnus is the one in command of Cybertron.

Which is not to say that I don't think Prime has a ton of potential (I mean, come on, he is Optimus Prime :tfgrin), only that there may be more than one perspective to consider here.

True, all true.

Go check out i control, you'll probably find that new episode there. >.>

I know :eek I just found it! wheeeeeeeeeeeeee

thanks for the heads up!

Hmm... That means it's a Time Warner thing...

Might be regional, though.

Edit: You're welcome, Pete.

Magnus has every right to be pissed at Optimus since the former has been reduced to a generic repaint of the latter in recent years, now it's time for some payback :tflaugh

Great Episode today. Lockdown was cool. I loved seeing more of Ratchet's past. And of course Arcee was great.

It did seem as though the animation was much less fluid and detailed as the shows prior. I would imagine (and have experience in this) that was caused due to it being a different team of animators working on this episode. Some studios use up to 5 different teams of animators during a show, so this is probably the case.

But overall I enjoyed it. Arcee was a nice little nod, particularly with Susan Blu doing the voice again. Lance Hendrickson's voice was great for Lockdown. Hard to believe that Lockdown is so old, definitely not Ratchet-old, but old still.

EDIT:

Oh and...it nice to see that even way back when Ultra Magnus was still in charge.

And Blitzwing was negotiating...that was an awesome scene.

It did seem as though the animation was much less fluid and detailed as the shows prior.

It seems like a lot of people say this every time a new episode airs. Do they think that the animation is going to get progressively worse as the cartoon goes on?

Well we've only had five episodes (1-3 were grouped together), and usually in a show the first 3-4 episodes are done with a higher quality than the rest to promote and push a new show. It's kind of sad, but that's how it works in the industry usually. The Dinobot episode still retained much of it's fluidity, motion, and all that. It was still a well-animated episode.

Thrill of the Hunt had obvious animation lacking to me. It was still animated well, but not up to par with the 4 episodes prior. It wasn't horrible, but it seemed as if the animation was done with a lesser drawings-per-second rate and/or the director (which could have been a totally different guy than the first few episodes) chose a lot more in-close shots that used less movement - more static shots, which seemed to be the case IMO.

WHAA WHAHHH [/Debbie Downer]

I thought it was a great episode; it was nice to see Arcee (OMG this is me saying this) b/c it was kind of a sad story and she seemed more sympathetic/vulnerable. i.e. more of a real character, I suppose.

and she's totally Blackarachnia :tfgrin

which is funny if it's true because there's another nod to an old TF show -- Blackarachnia in BW had the access codes to the Autobot Ark in her brain.

I also liked the fact that when Ratchet and Prime finally talked at the end, you didn't hear what they actually said. What was important was that they were talking. Which is a surprisingly mature story decision to make IMO. Favoring character over plot is always win IMO.

I agree Pete. I agree a lot.
