I personally will be watching the show, not because I have an open mind, not because I tend to like only some generations, but BECAUSE I AM A TRANSFORMERS FAN. Period.

Best comment in thread.

thanks! i hope other people have the same opinion!

Read the post, it's more then just a faction symbol, then we'll talk about it's length.

Anyway, hmmm, greater problems with the cartoon? Well lets see, it's got great writing and great voice acting, and the story seems interesting (the Autobots being a far cry from their seemingly perfect selves is very interesting). The only thing about the cartoon as a whole that I really don't like is the animation style, and if everything else is to par I can easily overlook the "guys in suites" look.

So no, I don't really have the unhealthy hatred for the cartoon that you seem to be implying. In fact I'm looking forward to the premier (still not sure if YTV will air it in the same time slot as Cartoon Network will though :().

Look, maybe I'm spoiled. My favourite cartoons are Futurama and Batman: The Animated series. Both of which are superb when it comes to animation quality. Furthermore, despite the ridiculously poor writing, the Unicron Trilogy was very good in terms of animation. So yeah, G1 had more then its fare share of animation errors, but look at the era and the circumstances it was created in.

Similar and worse animation error like screwing up a fairly simple faction symbol in this day and age just reeks of laziness and says that the animators, regardless of the overall aesthetic, don't care about the small details.

I seriously think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. It's one little thing, dude. Relax. Do you see the rest of the cartoon being consistently off-model?

No, as I've said plenty of times before I'm very much looking forward to this cartoon. Fact is though, little things like that bug me. If it's just something that happens once and a while then that's fine, because I admit, animation mistakes do happen, especially when they're hand drawn. All I'm really trying to get across is that this isn't the 100% perfect series people are making it out to be. It still needs some cleaning up.

EDIT-My main concern here is that messing up small details will become the norm, which isn't a good thing for the overall quality of the series.

I just want to know why fans (it's not just you) insist upon making these logical leaps. You see something once that you don't like and all of a sudden it's like "oh boy I sure hope this doesn't happen fifty million more times". I'm like, what in the world would lead any person to that conclusion? I saw it, I thought to myself "lol, funny con symbol", and I kept watching.

Well I cant speak for anyone else, but I'll try to let you in on my thought process.

This is a new Transformers series, a franchise that has a crapload of interest behind it due to the success of the movie. So it would seem that Transformers Animated is just as big a deal for Cartoon Network as it is for Hasbro. Admittedly being a Canuck means I'm not to familiar with Cartoon Network's practises, but I doubt every new series they launch gets a three hour movie as the premier. episode.

So if this is the first "official" look at the new series the public gets, wouldn't it stand to reason that they would want to put their best foot forward? Maybe go over the clip they're posting on their web site a few times to make sure it's as good as it can be? So when they leave a mistake in as glaring and simple to fix as a 'Con symbol, it raises an eyebrow.

Furthermore I pointed it out to simply say "um, guys? this clip isn't the OMG GR8TEST THING EVER we're all making it out to be."

I honestly wasn't prepared for the "you pointed out an animation error?!?!?! You must really hate the series" response I got.

That's not the connection I'm making; I just think you're being a little anal-retentive about it is all. I mean, okay you could focus on the mistake, or you could focus on everything they did right.

Oh, I know.

I'm very into graphic design, and besides just liking the look of it because I'm a TFan, I think the 'Con emblem is very, very sharp. So add this the fact that I've been diagnosed with OCD, and things like this stand out more to me then they do to others.

I mean if I were calling the shots at Cartoon Network we probably wouldn't see the launch of Animated for an other half a year because I'd probably demand every scene be gone over with a fine-toothed comb.

Anyway, you are right that they did more right then wrong. As a 'Sreamer fan I had a huge fanboy moment when he planted that bomb on Megatron. It's the kind of thing that you always wanted to see G1 Starscream do.

As for the ship looking like Omega Supreme, maybe it's him, but it could also be nothing more then an easter egg/homage.

I personally don't see anything wrong with the faction symbols. Iactually think they look pretty cool. I think they keep with the style of animation. It looks like the symbols being a little distorted, match the distorted style of the bots themselves. :tfrofl

This was probably done purposely by the animators,so I would'nt expect it to change. The close up shots of the sybols will probably be more defined.

Seeker, I'm sorry, but I won't slavishly watch anything that has the Transformers name on it. I'll probably watch Animated, the writing seems top notch. Still, that doesn't mean I'm ready to bow down to the mightiness of Transformers Animated, as there still seems to be a lot of animation kinks to work out. And I'll probably still avoid the toy line (save Blitzwing, and possibly Earth Megatron).

I mean take Beast Machines for example. That had the Transformers brand slapped on it, but I prefer my cartoons not to have hippies using them as propaganda.

it's ok man....your opinion is your opinion!

i'm just really FREAKIN EXCITED....

...might of been all the caffeine I had today...

I'll say this: the "stylized" symbols make me want to bash my eyes out...(do not want ^_^) but I don't think it's a big deal.

Certainly not the third sign of the apocalypse or anything.

Interestingly enough they seem to be using vector art symbols (I think...-_-) for the close ups and stuff... probably because it's too time consuming to insert them over every frickin' scene... :tfevil

Regardless: I think it's the writing that will really make this show shine! Or so I hope...

I personally will be watching the show, not because I have an open mind, not because I tend to like only some generations, but BECAUSE I AM A TRANSFORMERS FAN. Period.

Transformers fans should have an open mind, I think it leads to less Starscreaming overall. Fans are going to watch it and Starscream. Those who keep an open mind and are happy to watch a new toon are less likely to Starscream. JMO
