See, bashing the idea of brothers is problematic because most people accept Sunstreaker and Sideswipe as brothers.

Also, Rumble and Frenzy were brothers in the Marvel comics.

So... as much fun as it is to bash Pat Lee (but really, what can we do that he hasn't done himself?) we can't fault him for the bad idea of robot brothers existing.

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are twin brothers according to their tech specs... so I guess you can blame Budiansky.

Honestly I don't think that the brother thing or even the Prime in magnus clothing thing was so bad, except that there was never a pay off because the company flopped so fast. The only thing I really dislike about it is that it cause a billion white prime repaints.

Not to mention annoying fans claiming that it was "always" that way.

(I do like Revoltech White Prime BTW)

Yeah. How does a toy company saving a few bucks (or yen) make it okay for Ultra Magnus, as a character, to be white Optimus Prime in armor?

Am I really going to have to argue as to why UM as a white prime is OK?

ugh... here's the bottom line.

Pat Lee saw something we all saw, even if we refuse to admit it. That being that the Ultra Magnus toy was a white optimus prime with a new trailer that turned into a bigger body for him. All he did was incorporate it into the cosm of his version of G1 (please refer back to that big post I linked to earlier in this thread.) There was no problem with the logic of it within the Dreamwave comics, that's just the way it was. Nothing from other G1 continuities was shattered, because they weren't touched.

I'm pretty sure that Pat Lee didn't go to Hasbro and Takara like "I have a great idea to help you guys make some extra dough." because as we all know Pat Lee has all the Marketting savy of a slug.

now lets see if IDW does the same thing, because at this point with how the series is, Megatron could take off his helmet and reveal himself to be Alpha Trion and I would call it gold!

Am I really going to have to argue as to why UM as a white prime is OK?

not really

Guys, look--Pat Lee is guilty of a lot of things, but turning Magnus into Albino Prime isn't one of them. That was the writing duo of Adam Patyk and "Brad Mick."

Lee took credit for it in the trade. He specifically said it was his idea.

I don't believe him, lol. :tfevil

All Lee was good for was creating Ghost in the Shell rip-offs homages and drawing bloated crotched, puffy pants'd Transformers.

I liked, and still like, Pat Lee's Transformer artwork. It blew me away when I first saw it. Of course, I grew up with the old Marvel artwork. Anyways, I still like Pat Lee's stuff. I do believe that the White Prime Magnus was his idea because he drew the "smoking gun" Magnus pic specifically for that purpose. But hey, I could be wrong.
