Energon Insecticon

Recommended Posts

I recently received a Japan version of Energon Insecticon. I realy like him, esp is weaponary! He's much larger than I was expecting and has a nice transformation.

But I can't decided which Insecticon to use him as.

The stinger on his head is very reminisent of Bombshell. But the colours, weaponary and look of him make me think Barrage, the Insecticon gunner. This version is green and yellow. Was the US/UK Energon version the same colour?

Opinions greatly anticipated.

He originally (if the prototype images on the back are true) was going to have light yellow-orange in place of his brown parts, for a stronger Barrage homage.

Interesting. Certainly with all his guns and his sword he lends more to Barrage than Bombshell in terms of weaponary.

yeah the Japanese toy and the US/euro are the same apart from the colour of the weapons their more clear on the Japanese toy. theirs also the forest type that's a repaint it has alot more green on it and the wepons are more of a amber

Hmm, not sure which version I've got then. There's alot of green on him, which is where I've gotten Barrage from, but his weapons are clear green. I'm inbetween cameras so I can't post a pic.

I have all the versions of Insecticon (I really like the Energon Terrorcons, what can I say?) and there are differences. The Energon weapon on the SL version is green and the Energon version is yellow. The paintjob on the Energon version is far sloppier, mine has no paint on the eyes and the Energon weapon is looser. The turret turns, while the SL version is tight. SL Is the superior version, but since they where cheap as hell, I got all three regardless. The forrest type is also very cool, his colors are great.

Thanks Gasket, that clears alot up. I think, think, its the Forrest SL version I've got. yes, I'm very please with him overall. Great fig.

But is he Barrage or Bombshell or who? What's your take on it? If you have 3 versions do you call them different Insecticon names? Or don't you bend that way? (ie giving all G1 homage figs G1 names.)

im happy with him just being a homage to both

also an easy way to tell what edition you have is to look on his pack are the numbers printed on a silver sticker or is it just the normal packing. the regular Chrome horn is SD16 while the forest type is SD18

Ah! Thanks chap! It's def Forest.

I think I'm leaning more and more towards Barrage, 'cosa the weaponary. He has to be someone, 'cos I have little stories and battles and dialog etc. That's right, I'm a child in a man's body!

Really, names are whoever you want them to be. Cybertron Smokescreen is sometimes Rad, Real gear Meantime can be FrenzyRumble, and I even could imagine plots for so many universe guys.
