Optimus Minor!

Recommended Posts

This is the end result of a lot of experimenting. I had started with this in mind, but I botched it it pretty badly experimenting with plastic dying. Most of the arts became badly warped so I put it all on hold. Then when the Walmart two packs came out I had two extra Armorhides so I did a little more experimenting with dying. Black just wasn't working out, too long and it was warping the plastic and not long enough and what looked like penetrated dye could be washed off. On the other hand the red dye on the lighter plastic turned out perfectly! So I figured I'd just paint the black parts instead, but I didn't have any good black so the end results just looked dull and flat. So in the end I stuck all of the parts in a back and pushed them aside for the better part of a year. I even had one of those Hot Wheels trailers that were popular to use with repainted Armorhides before it became popular. Then yesterday I suddenly had an urge to see this threw so I pulled out the parts and started painting again. I was going to see this thing threw even if the paint did look lumpy.

So here he is, custom Optimus Minor in all his rushed glory:

Yeah, the face is a bit too static, but it still works, well, mostly.

Here's some comparison pics:

I'm not a big Optimus Minor fan, but that looks great!

Nice. Armorhide is a great mold--fits so many characters...

That's surprisingly and unexpectedly awesome.

And I'm sorry I missed this thread the first time! :eek :thumb

Seriously, I just checked the date for this one.

Yeah, I know I might be adding to the resurrection of a zombie thread, but that's just too cool. Besides the paint job, he's a truck mold too! That's just perfect all around. :)
