For those who think that these are Cybertron protos, we're still much too early for that. Energon's been scheduled as an 18 month line, just like Armada. It won't end until June/July 2005. That means we have a whole year before Cybertron starts. Protos don't get leaked that early.

 

Plus we have store listings already for the Grimlock/Swoop 2-pack.

Man Grim is looking really cool in his alt mode.....and ok in Bot mode. Swoop's looking great in both modes....these guys are most gets for sure. :thumb

I hope grimlock gets packed with a sword. I wonder what would swoop's weapon might be??? He doesn't have any weapon holes. Snap on maybe?

I was thinking that because of the lack of "star holes" they might be Cybertron but I wasn't sure how much longer Energon would continue. Thanks!

 

I had heard somewhere that it takes at least 6 months after a prototype is complete before they can have any of them ready to ship...not sure if that's true. I'll use a few of the pics from Transformers.com to compare. This is in no way scientific. Hasbro can post toy pics anytime they want to. I was just curious.

2) Dec 29, 2003 pics of Cliffjumper posted - Hotshot 24 got him in July = 7 months

3) Mar 24, 2004 pics of Shockblast posted - Hotshot 24 got him in July = 3 months

4) Dec 5, 2003 pics of Mirage posted - I got him back in June = 7 months

 

Well, it looks like anywhere from 3 to 7 months before the toys hit the shelves. Is there any truth to my figures?

Well, to be truthful, there was one testshot off the top of my head that we saw about a year before the figure was actually released. Yellow Landfill. But then, he was delayed, so... no, that really doesn't offset things that much.

 

Outside any special circumstances, like the aforementioned Landfill, it's about 6 months, tops, before the leaked protos hit shelves.

On the "Landfill" note: The talk of a safety green Decepticon Landfill was just rumor right? I never saw any pics or have heard any more about that repaint being produced.

He was for me :P. I never got the originals, and the new set looked vastly better in the colouring/detailing department, IMO. I've had no complaints with the quality of mine, either.

 

Anyways, the only info we've had on the Constructicon repaint of Landfill is two Universe Ultra listings for "Bonecrusher/Hightower" and "Wide Load/Scavenger". Take that as you will.

If they're really going to stretch it out for 18 months, why is it they're not already falling behind Superlink (which is 12 months)? The show is a mere month behind, which is about the same as it's been from the beginning, and the toys are still ahead of Superlink (with a handful of exceptions).
