Combiners on TF2? How about Aerialbots?

Recommended Posts

Just remember, they are doing things different in the movie compared to what we are used to seeing in cartoons and comics. They may do combiners combine in a different way that we are used to. We are used to seeing the "plugging" style connection. That one bot plugs in to form the arm and etc.

The movie may have the members dogpile on each other and form a metal mesh and then a giant robo body appears.

Or they may do that the center guy has wires & metal shoot out of him, attaching to the other members and drawing them in, to form the body.

That's odd, even for the new ways of the movie. Other than showing more detail, the transformations are not all that different from what we've seen before.

A movie combiner would probably join together in the usual fashion, especially considering how the movie bot are able to transform in different ways from different positions.

the concept would work well in cartoons... the movie would be kind of pushing it.. both making it look believeable and the amount of engineering it would take to create it. I'd be more concerned about it looking like a Power Ranger Zord fight/Godzilla knocking over buildings and all that crap..

Well, the engineering would just be a tweak of what kind of engineering they already have used for the movie.

Well, now that the groundwork is layed out, any newer characters won't be as hard to do. I can imagine how they could do this and make it look believable. Besides, what's a good TF story without a combiner in there? I need my gestalts in movie style now that I have expierenced single TFs in movie style. My god. A movie style Predaking would rock hard.

I'm all for combiners, or a face off between 2 huge Transformers.

...But if the Autobot team will be bigger than the cons...

Would that be a bad thing?

As for combiners, well, it's not too soon. I don't get peoples hating the idea of combiners or mass shifting for the movie if they can be explained rationally. And the combiners shouldn't just fly up and combine like in the cartoon (the only one's who should be able to do that in mid-air are the Aerialbots)

Here's how I see someone like say, the Stunticons (who are all landbased) combine into Menasor.

Motormaster: Stunticons. Unite to form Menasor!

The each transform into their vehicle modes and line up to their positions that they form for the body. So Wildrider and Breakdown drive in front of Motormaster, and Dragstrip drives on the left of Motormaster near his rear, and Dead End does likewise on Motormasters right. They stop, and they start transforming partially, not fully, and they wind up fusing together, so we still see somewhat whole vehicles joined together. Then to finish the process, Drag Strip and Dead End start transforming into the arms and they pull the body up while Wildrider and Breakdown are forming the legs and finish by the time he's finished standing up. And the entire time, Motormaster is forming the center of the body. When he finishes standing up, a head comes up and says something menacing thus introducing himself.

You could use a similar method for the other five piece combiners cause it's a really simple thing of one big guy who's the middle, and the four other guys form the limbs. So while I'd like the Constructicons, it'd be slightly harder since there's six of them (though three form the upper body and three form the lower body, it could work like this.

Scrapper: Constructicons. Merge to form Devastator.

We see Scrapper and Mixmaster driving in front of Long Haul. And behind him in alignment with each other (from right to left) Scavenger, Hook, (whatever they use to replace what should have been Bonecrusher). Then we see something similar to the Menasor formation, but in two pieces. Then there's this big electrical surge and the two body halves join together. Then the whole standing up thing would be eaier with some type of jump jet on Devastator's back, cause as he's standing up, the shovel on Scrapper and the cab on Mixmaster just stay still and they bend like the original Devastator (and after he stands up, Scrapper's arms come down forming the right heel).

Of course, I'm working with the models of the original characters, knowing full well that they're not going to be used. But I was just saying that it's a possible way to work in combiners in the movie.

Now, as for Mass shifting, well, we could have some scientific explanation I'm sure. They're aliens and for them, what might be a simple process of doing one small thing, could result in a short but reasonable explanation given by Ratchet to Sam and Mikaela.

Interesting and you're right. Optimus Prime is smaller than Megatron but he's as powerful as the Decepticon leader so a fight between Superion and Devastator could work :07laugh

:tfhuh I didn't make any statement on the size or power comparison between Prime and Megatron. However, if you like my idea for the combiners, thanks.

I think combiners would be a great addition to the next movie. :thumb I would love to see the Constructicons :beer

I like the idea, I would like to see the Aerialbots, that would bring bigger/taller Bots...

The Combaticons, given their status in G1 and the turnout of the movie, would be my pick for TF2.

Well, my first choice for a movie combiner would have to be Devastator, but since that name's been used, I'd settle for the Combaticons. Not that Devastator has to be called Devastator in the movie. Of course, knowing Hasbro, they'd finally have a reason in TF2 to release those darn Seacons.

Hey, wouldn't it be funny if they used Devastator and called him Devastator, despite the fact that they already used the name. The fandom would be up in arms.

What're you talking about? There's no "Devastator" in the first movie :tflaugh

Seriously though, his name is Brawl, and apparently the "Devastator" mistake was an "easter egg" for the second movie that'll be removed by the DVD release. Odds are, it's a hint or something that Dev will be in the second movie... as much as I'd like Bruticus in TF2 :tdown
