About Jazz..

Recommended Posts

You know the standard trope, the cliche that happens with all monster/horror movies, right?

Yes, the token black guy always dies first.

And Jazz....

See where I'm going with this?

It's sad. I wonder if the writers even thought of that. I liked Jazz. Ironhide seemed like the token death character.

:tflaugh If this had been a Trek type thing, Ratchet's coloring would have made him the logical choice to bite it.

off-topic: Given that G1 Jazz was just an ebonics laden stereotype in the toons, I'm surprised they played him up that way in the movie also (I was almost sad that they didn't sneak in that cheesy porn funk toon he was always blasting in the toons.) What was he saying about "Protectobots" in his first scene? I've seen it twice and I still couldn't make out the phrase.

That is the one thing I really wish they had handled differently. I noticed it more the second time around. They intercut shots of Ironhide and Ratchet bringing Jazz's body to Prime with shots of Sam and Mikaela kind of smiling at each other. And then Prime's holding Jazz in his arms in a way that unfortunately makes it look like Prime's about to do some ventriloquism with Jazz' top half. But the part I really didn't like was Prime saying that they'd lost a brave warrior but gained some new friends. It was like, in one sentence Prime's already moved on past Jazz's death. I would like to see a bit more time given to that on the DVD, if possible.

"What's crackin', lil Protectobots?"

Stop saying stuff that I was thinking when I saw the movie! Get out of my head!

I actually told my wife yesterday, that it did look like Prime was going to do a ventriloquism act with Jazz.

Yeah, Prime dealing with Jazz' dead body, and his death itself was really "Hey, Jazz dead, that sucks. Now, what's crackin, lil' Protectobots?"

YEAH! It was like, "Oh, he's dead? What are you gonna do, right. Lolz" I guess Prime's name is Optimus, so that statement was him looking at the bright side.
