Have any of you people (the one's complaining about the human characters) actually ever watched any TF media before? With the exception of Beast Wars/machines. Humans have always been in integral part of the transformers mythos and have often garnered as much screen/print time as any Transformer. This is nothing new and saying things about it needing to take place on cybertron is incredibly short sited. That's like saying ET should have stayed on his home planet or Superman should have take place on Krypton. Transformers has always been about giant transforming robots bringing their civil war to earth and the consequences of that.

99% of season 1 and 2 of the G1 cartoons had to do with humans interacting with/being threatened by/involved with transformers. They weren't a side plot or a second thought, they WERE the plot. I mean I'm just sitting here wondering how it is that you guys saw the same movie I did because let me tell you, when I came out of that theater I was so completely amazed and impressed, I saw it again later that day (as did my wife... that's twice in 1 day and my wife is NOT a transformer fan but this movie rocked her soxX).

Now if some of you are just so hell bent on what ever TF mythos that you cling too (g1,BW,cybertron, etc..) then just watch those shows, they still exist. Transformers just grew up kids, and you can either accept it and come along for the sweet ride that it is, or stay in the past with your poor writing and kiddy cartoons and dream of the day when you get to have your say in making a Transformers movie. and that day will never come.

I wouldn't exactly call the new movie's writing Oscar caliber either...but the action is where it's at anyway.

However, I would definitely say that the visual effects are Oscar caliber. No question.

That's obviously where the love went in this movie. And especially with a $150 million budget, they freaking knocked it out of the park.

I just don't think that writing comparisons are the best way to differentiate all the different versions of TFs. FWIW, the best TF writing (including the movies) was Beast Machines, which had no humans...

i agree with the special effects, and we have at least one more film to see some superb plot development!

quoted for extreme truthiness

But beast machines also had eight hours to tell an over arching story and didn't have to really introduce any characters since they all came from beast wars... This movie had 2.5 hours to introduce something like 20 characters :tflaugh

True.

With that being said, Sam Witwicky is easily the best written human character in TF history.
