DO you ever feel ashamed of being a Transfan?

Not at all. I do get angry when noobs try to "outsmart" me in TF knowledge tho.

First I do the "yeah, whatever" routine. If they keep bugging me, I'll throw so much random information at their heads, they get overloaded, and run away crying*.

* = OK, slight over-exaggeration. It wasn't a "they", it was only one guy.

The chicks at my work dig that I'm just that little bit nerdy.

So no would be my answer.

I hate it when people go and makes stuff up just to say something I'm not supposed to know. I do follow the same routine, throw around a crapload of facts to S them TFU. They tend to hold me for less of a geek then I really am, I'll show them.

I had a conversation last week with someone about the movie (He knew I was a fanboy. His girlfriend had cat ears on her sweaters hood and is fat, so I win by default.) and he said the movie was fun but certain things weren't right. I asked him what exactly and he couldn't tell me. Yay, I win again.

I pride myself in being a transfan. Everyone at work knows I'm seeing the movie multiple times this summer and that I collect the figures. A few of them who've come over have seen my collection.

So some of them have been asking me questions. "Why did a few people cheer when the truck robot said to the big bad guy "one shall stand, one shall fall" (that question was asked by a doctor at work a few days after release indicating he went during the first week rush). That same doctor asked me later that same day "the stereo guy. That was Soundwave right?" I told him no. The character was originally one of Soundwave's cassettes. To that he said "So was it Rampage?" I proceeded to tell him that he was wrong and that Rampage wasn't one of the cassettes, and before I could tell him it was Frenzy, he said "I thought Rampage was the black cat cassette?" I said that that was Ravage and that Rampage was a red tiger from a group called the Predacons, and finally got around to telling him that the character in the movie was originally one of the humanoid cassettes named Frenzy. That doctor is actually pretty cool since he's young and said he grew up a few years with the Transformers in the 80s.

Another great one by a co-worker (who also happens to be a very good friend) that used to watch the cartoon in the 80s and read some of the comics said "That was the best Marvel movie to date." I just looked at her and said, "That wasn't a Marvel movie. Not at all. Marvel doesn't even hold the license to Transformers. It was done by Dreamworks/Paramount and in association with Hasbro who make the figures. If it was based on the comics, then it would have been in association with IDW Comics, not Marvel."

After Leader class movie Prime arriving today, I have to admit that I'm glad I didn't stop liking TF's, well the engineering of them anyway, nor be ashamed of it. He's amazing, a litle work of art as good as MP Prime. So I'm not ashamed of collecting TF's, not when I can get my hands on toys that a lot of the time are like little works of art.

I just started collecting TFs a few years back at the age of 28. While I feel a little funny buying children's toys at the stores sometimes, it's no where near the feeling of shame.

I keep my small collection of TFs displayed on LED lit shelves with acrylic risers next to my desk in the IT shop at work. Everyone in our agency passes through this office at one time or another to get access badges and privileges assigned. The reactions from people (both males and females anywhere from the ages of 18 to 70) are mixed and varied. The small amount of people that generally don't approve or recognize TFs, are quiet and don't really comment on the collection. The majority of the employees though, always have a positive comment or two or a little story about their childhood memories of the toons and toys. A lot of people tell me about family members who would love to see my office and I've actually had some parents bring their kids through to check out the TF and SW stuff (I also have a larger than life sized painted resin Yoda display piece, a Force FX lightsaber, and a large collection of Titanium SW vehicles in the office.) My favorite question is "Did you build all those model cars yourself?" Of course, referring to the Alts when I've got them all displayed in car mode. I usually laugh and hand them one to inspect more closely. I just wish I could actually transform one within a few minutes to show them. Recently, I've been getting all sorts of questions about the movie. I usually smile and say "What movie?" I also tell a lot of people that they should be worried if their IT guy doesn't have some sort of fascination with either Transformers, Star Wars, or Star Trek.
