I just never want to play with Smokescreen because it is a pain to tf him and I have no Decepticons to fight him yet :(

Smokey is hard yes to play with, mostly with those rather annoying legs. He's nice to pose and look at, but he's not really playable.

I thnk the biggest downer in the BT/Alt line is the lack of a story (closely connected with a lack of Decepticons). Right now they're cool to look at, but they won't be cool to play with until they get some personality, and that'll only come with a story. I mean sure, we could make up a story ourselves, or use the old G1 personalities, but a fresh new cool cartoon/comic story would really step things up for the better.

Just my two Engeron Cubes.

I actually agree with you somewhat. Well, not in the flimsiness department, both Sideswipe and Smokescreen seem to be holding up fine to me.

But in terms of playability, they're a bit much of a chore. They're fun to sit down with occasionally, but there's no way they'd be the first thing I'd pick up if I just wanted something to fiddle around with. As such, I anticipate each new Energon release with much more eagerness than any Alternator release. That said, pocket money allowing, it's not that I won't try to complete both lines (minus Energon repaints, and Alternator character rehashes, ie: 2004 Smokescreen).

I just never want to play with Smokescreen because it is a pain to tf him...

:pfx I'm glad somebody finally said it. You and mx-01 archon are right that it's a chore to "play" with BT/Alternators. Mine have been stuck in bot mode for most of their display life. I'd take E-Megatron any day just for the fun factor.

Well I LOVE them. They bought me back to transformers. I agree that Smokes is a bit labourious to transform, but that rally car is so cool. I love Sideswipe the best. He was my first and I think his transformation is more satisfying.

Alternators is what I always dreamed Transformers should be. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, and I'm not going to bag you for liking Energon better, but I can't agree at all.

I hate alternators!!!!

If Hasbro released, say, a "Bumblebee Superlator" toy that

c) looks exactly like Bumblebee in the cartoon

I tell you there will still be people who will piss all over the toy and curse Hasbro simply because said Bumblebee toy is red instead of yellow.

But if it was red, he wouldn't look exactly like the cartoon. :tfgrin I'd just call him Bumblejumper or better yet, "Animation Error Bumblebee" :tflaugh1

Seriously though, I have liked all of the figures in the BT/Alternators line. If I had to put them in an order, it would look something like this.

1.Silverstreak/Bluestreak

2.Hound

3.Sideswipe

4.Smokescreen-He was the first one I got and he's great, but once I saw 'Streak I realized what bothers me about Smokescreen. The racing details. I know he's a rally car, but I just prefer the smooth silver look as opposed to busy detailing. Very minor though.

Ayway, I only mentioned the four that I have. Tracks and Dead End look awesome as well.

I LLLOUUUUURRRRVE SMOKESCREEN. Mostly because of the racing details. I really wish that Takara San and Mr. Hasbro would create more AUTOBOTS with the racing details and make 'em more Fast and Furiously ready to take on the road.

My Picks:

1) SMOKESCREEN

2) SMOKESCREEN 2 ( second body kit. (although I wished that they would color him with a gold rally body paint.

3) SILVERSTREAK / PROWL (...which I am personally waiting for because I have never had a G-1 Prowl figure but was always my favorite.Hope he comes with shoulder rockets on the first resease.)

4) SIDESWIPE/DEADEND/SUNSTREAKER

5) TRACKS

6) JAZZ / MEISTER

7) Whoever the Mustang will be

8) HOUND/ BEACHCOMBER?

I likes 'em a lot. :tftongue

I hate alternators!!!!

relax man. nobody's forcing u to buy bt/alt. btw, methinks that bt/alt are the best tfs ever. so maybe they're play value's not that great, but hey, do u seriously still play with your tfs? :tftongue

i don't. when i buy tfs, i display them. that's where the true value of the bt/alt line lies in. as collecter's items for display.

I, like many others, also consider the playability of a TF before making a purchase. The Alternators seem to be some untouchable posh robots that are really classy to display and that's about it. It hurts to contemplate about playing with them, for fear of ruining the paints and designs over time. If I am to buy an Alternator, I'd probably leave it MISB, but then again, it will defeat the purpose of buying a toy. My personal preference is a toy that is playable, displayable and durable (with constant touching and transforming). Armada and Energon series are thus my favourites. :thumb
