How to cure Collectorism

Recommended Posts

You don't have sex with every woman that you think looks hot... you don't have to buy every toy that you think looks cool.

I don't?

I mean, I don't....

The cure is to stop going to the stores that sell what you like. I Haven't been able to get to stores conveniently for a few months now and almost lost total interest in TF toys all together. I wanted a few things like Leader Prime, Barricade and Jazz but Bleh! Not all of them. Well, we rented a car this weekend and I was able to go to Walmart and had a total relapse. I wanted to buy everything I saw. It was like a wonderland of every figure released so far. I felt so happy. I've never seen every fig on shelf at once. There's always one fig missing. I had to stop myself from buying everything I wanted.

I ended up leaving with Leader Prime and Barricade. I even wanted Bumblebee even though I said Meh to him over 08' version. Any one else ever have an issue like this.

But none of the toys I want can be found in a store... and I still manage to collect them. I just blew $100 on Takara BW stuff last night, and I really need to be saving up for Aug/Sep, when the G1 reissues, MP3 Soundwave, and MP Skywarp come out :tfmad

The cure is not paying your ISP.

If I see a figure I like the look of at a reasonable price ITS MINE

...of we have plenty of Figures, just not many Transformers.

Tally up how much you've spent on Transformers in the past year. That'll do it.

:lol yeah, you'd think that.... :redface

It's not how much money you spend as much as how much you lose via resale...... not that I'd know anything about that

ya rly

I try to comfort myself by saying that the loss is how much I really paid for said item, and when you consider that, it was a nice discount.

It doesn't work.

EDIT: You know what? It would probably benefit me if the next TF line all looked like FAB's and TF GOBOTS. I would save an assload of cash.

The movie figs and Hasbro's unwillingness to distribute their products is saving me an assload of cash at the moment. Now if Takara would just stop making TF's, I'd be set.

...The look of the movie toys alone put a stop to my collector-itis.

Of course, packing up everything and putting it away and out of sight really helped too. I am still buying the 6" Titaniums as they are released, but I am done with mainline collecting - for now. On the upside, my wardrobe is looking great and my debt has decreased substantially.
