how'd you get the head off?

 

 

its on with a screw. if you transform him into robot mode. lift the window/roof section and you will see his back. the front bumper is there flipped down. right above it is a small slit. perfect for a small screw driver. if you lift the head up a little you can insert a small screwdriver in at an angle and access the screw.

 

 

also about the shoulders. I like extending them out. the normal way of transformation looks even more silly as the fenders, hood and doors stick up at a 45 degree angle and pretty much block his peripheral vision.

fixing the shoulders isn't hard at all. If you cut the small spring on the upper half of the shoulder arms then the shoulders set a a perfect angle. I did it to mine and it doesn't effect transformation in the least. I highly recommend it. I can post come pics later if you like.

I believe he means Movie Ironhide is supposed to look cowboyish, not G1.

 

And I think Movie Ironhide looks (awesomely) like a bull.

i think the rollbar head is too big for the mold. and if you gonna do that you need to repaint the legs to match the asthetic.

 

I would suggest you try with a smaller head like smokescreen or skids prowl (prowl should mod to g1 ironhide pretty easily)

by your statement I think I can assume you do not own Ironhide the toy? have you seen the humungous melon they put on his neck? it is bigger than rollbar's

Here is the spring mod. you are looking at a pic of the underside of the fender/hood part. in the red circle you will see a screw and a pin. wrapped around the pin is a spring. it is on the side closest to the front of the hood. unscrew the hood. the whole hood will slide off. then you will see the spring better. get a sturdy pair of needle nose pliers and slowly pull the spring. it will uncoil. sometimes the other end of the spring will catch and hook onto itself as it unwinds. jsut unhook it and continue

 

here are pics of Rollbar's head now properly mounted using a ball and a piece of balsa wood. I also removed the doors just to see what it would look like.
