I dunno about that Prowl/Starscream pack... it seems very odd to me that:

a) it's in Energon packaging, using names of 2 existing regular Energon characters

b) the character art for Starscream isn't recolored

c) the box is the rounded Armada-style again

d) the insert says "Fisher-Price" and "Imaginext" on it.

Could this be a fake/Photoshop scam?

I had heard from some of the asian posters over at 2005 that some of these are just mock ups (hence the wierd background on the Maxcon dual pack). It will probably get a normal insert before it reaches stores.

And about the best answer I can give to the questions is that this is just a store exclusive, and thus Hasbro probably isn't putting much effort into it (see the recent Universe CR Bros repaints, and the infamous Kmart Powerlinx 2 pack last Christmas)

You might want to check the responses to the picks on the original website. Most of the posts note the Playskool logos on the boxes. And most write it off as a fake. Some argue against it. It seems odd that they would release a Japan exclusive (meaning limited run figure) like Evil Convoy as a $20 Universe fig. It kinda doesnt make sense for me. Oh well, if it comes out i'll definitely be a happier person.

They're real, but the packaging themselves are just mockups
