I can't give you the final script or even the old one. Instead, have this early early concept art of Optimus Prime.

Umm... I like it. Even if it does have Soundwave's head instead of Prime's; I wonder...

It's a little pointy, but remove the head (which is awful for Prime), and that design's not too bad.

You know what people would do if that were Prime's head in the movie?

They'd bitch.

And they'd bitch.

And they'd bitch.

And they'd bitch.

Then they'd get over it.

I wish he had looked like this. I wish they hadn't caved in to tradition. I like the idea of Prime looking foreign to me, in this movie. I don't want him to look familiar. He's supposed to be an alien machine, and I think the effect of that is reduced when he's designed to resemble something I already know very well.

But that's just me.

I'm all for changes, but I think if only one thing had to be preserved from other iterations of Transformers, it's Optimus's head design. It's the most iconic thing in the entire franchise and for the movie to succeed, it needs a little recognizability. I guess it's my own personal bias, but the only thing I really wanted from this movie was to see Optimus Prime towering over me on the big screen. I think the current design strikes a really good balance of new and old. For the record though, I love all the other redesigns.

Optimus Prime pretty much IS Transformers IMO. Not saying it's a great thing or anything, just that he's the brand's most iconic character.

All my friends (non of them into TFs) know Optimus Prime & "that tape player guy" (Soundwave) but hardly any of them remember Megatron... unless I remind them. :redface
