Alt. Grimlock/Wheeljack as Movie Barricade?

Recommended Posts

Funny, I clicked the link for this thread thinking "Oh, this should be interesting" without realising it was an older thread that I'd already contributed to!

Anyway, I still like this Alt Barricade. The Mustang mould looks hulking and downright vicious in black!

But then I really can't stomach the movie designs at all, I'd have much rather seen something closer to the Alternator aesthetic on screen. But to each his own! :thumb

I, conversely, just don't feel it. The mustang mold's proportions evoke certain things...a brutish, broad shoulded, thuggish sort. Muscle, being a bruiser.

Barricade always feels lean. Like, yeah, he can fight. But he's more "athletic" than "buff". Like rather than bench press, he can distance run. So while sure, it's a mustang, it doesn't "suit" him.

This reminds me of when the Barricade pics were first leaked, and I actually thought that they were going to use the Alt design in the movie. Even so, I'm surprised that there aren't any actual bashes of this around!

I think thats because ultimately the two aesthetics don't match.

but I do like the digibash of the alt mode.

...and again I have to wonder why we haven't gotten anything more than a lame plastic toy for these awesome movie characters.

Well I must admit that I'm not familiar with the original Barricade, only what I saw in the movie. And the scenes of him, a powerful Mustang, accelerating violently and advancing on Sam... well I guess I thought of him exactly as the thuggish brute posing as an authority figure. (The silly blades protruding from his grill notwithstanding! :) )

I just can't see any kind of muscle car as anything other than a hulking bruiser. But then I suppose he is kinda lean in bot mode (in the movie at least), so maybe it's more that the "feel" of his vehicle doesn't match the "feel" of the robot. He's certainly not a lean or athletic looking car, if you know what I mean.

I agree with Hunter Rose that the two styles just don't mesh well, the Alts look too clean, the movie designs too superficially detailed.

I think a Robot Replica B-cade head would transplant nicely, it is a kinda darker grape metallic purple ion those parts of him an maybe the X-Mods parts will just about be the right size for the bull b ar and the lights. I am so going to try to do this. Digi to reality, God help me. lol Nice work guys.
