Review - MP-05 Masterpiece Megatron

Recommended Posts

I don't really care about transforming MP-5 into it's alt form. I already have a re-issue Megs that is just fine in it's alt form. I'm going to keep MP-5 in robot mode all the time anyway.

As far as the fragility/durability of MP-5, I have my own concerns. Lack of diecast in the body is not an issue for me. Ball joints are a downside though. The ball joints on the BTs really hurt them as their joints are too loose and they can't hold their own weight.

At first I didn't really like MP-3, but after seeing photos of it at this forum, I decided to buy it and it blew me away! MP-5 is a no brainer for me, I won't be disappointed, even if it has a few flaws, some of which I'm not even going to bother with. I usually just display them :P .

MP Prime is the only one I need from this line.

Built like a brick & still has solid & minty as he was the day I bought em.

Starscream would be nice in the alt line if they brought the construction to alt quality/ Megatron a big resounding meh in all aspects to the toy. It looks pretty but not fun. Classics Megatron is all the gun I need.

Noticed a lot of the pre movie Megatron angst. Big meh to that the Leader class toy if proportionate to MP Prime will be a perfect stand in for this. The only thing MP Megatron has over the solid constuction & potential fun of that mode is the energon mace & kremzeek.

Make mine Movie Megatron for the win. :clap

Meh, I often find myself disagreeing with such reviews. I'll know in a few weeks.

I'm a realist when it comes to Transformers and their various incarnations; it's probably why any troubles that Titaniums have never bother me.

What about the fact that Titaniums only cost $15 and not $100? Couldn't that also be a reason it doesn't bother you?

Not really, both are priced according to their size and complexity. $15 for Titaniums, which are sized between a deluxe and a voyager, seems reasonable to me. Likewise, MP Megatron is actually around $70, about the same as both US releases of Masterpiece Prime; it's the shipping costs that put it at $100.

Did anyone catch this

Plus his hips dont move as well, so dont expect much, its decently articulated, just not enough for the masterpiece line. (Using Prime and Screamer as reference.)

Is he calling MP SS articulated? Cause I can only move his arms and knees. Hips are outta the question without some modding.

I am fine with this, I was a little disapointed with SS and the complete lack of diecast, but I feel that without an Alt Megatron this is the best we are going to get, and I feel that it will be a nice addition standing next to Prime. As for the transformation, it will be fine, I have only transformed Prime twice, mostly due to the fact that when I do I have to pull out the instructions to do it. Though SS is easier.

I require more reviews. This one is too fanboyish for me.

I'd buy Starscream before I buy this... and unfortunitly I can't afford either currently.. :redface

Either way it's $100 out-of-pocket. Is it worth spending that much on a toy (or anything for that matter) that breaks the minute it's out of the package and you start messing with it? I certainly don't think so.

The lack of die-cast doesn't surprise me, but it is disappointing. G1 Megatron is one figure BEGGING for a high metal content. Also, with the proportional issues with his cannon and body parts getting in the way of some great poses, less-than-stellar articulation it sounds like he was made by Toynami, creators of the notoriously flawed Robotech Masterpiece line (ask anyone who's shelled out the cash for a Masterpiece Alpha). I am so far highly unimpressed. I expected a tough, heavy, well-articulated, "Perfect Grade" Megatron, and it seems we're getting something considerably less than crap-tacular. Add orange barrels to this and it's a "No Thanks" from me.

I require more reviews. This one is too fanboyish for me.
