Why do they even call him "Megatron" anymore?

Recommended Posts

This is a lot easier to figure out if you just ignore Japanese continuity. :thumb That way you only have one Megatron, and one guy who named himself after Megatron.

Uh, don't you mean if you ignore the Unicron Trilogy? Japanese G1/Beast Era still has only one Megatron, and a guy who nammed himself after Megatron...

whatever works :tflaugh

The funny thing here is that Hornet's forgotten that Transformers is a BRAND. And that goes for "Megatron" too, which is the name of a PRODUCT. All the stories and stuff are just value adders to get people to buy that product.

The reason that Megatron doesn't resemble G1 Megs is because of the toy gun laws. You see, Optimus Prime has basically been a semi-truck in 3 out of the 5 series that had OPTIMUS PRIME (Primal is not a Prime.) The other 2 series he was a fire truck (Cybertron was a futuristic looking one.) Therefore, Megatron could not 'resemble G1' because of toy laws. He had to change and it started a trend of changing Megatron in every line since G2.

All I can say is: GET OVER IT!!!!

Well blame it on Lord Atmo. He wants live movie Megatron to be voiced by Frank Welker and that prompted me to start a thread about how Megatrons are a lot more varied than peole give them credit for.

Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots. No matter what he looks like. (Trukk not munky, munky not trukk)

Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons. No matter what he looks like. ( . . . I dunno what to put here.)

Flip it around:

No matter what he looks like, the leader of the Autobots, or Decepticons, is always Optimus Prime or Megatron respectively.

It's been twenty years. More than that even. I think we can get past homages.

Then maybe you could just start a thread about that instead...?

::sigh:: I knew this was gonna be a GeeWun rant before I even clicked on the link..

The Reason they still use the name Megatron is simply because, Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons/Predicons (bad guys), as Prime(al) is leader of the Autobots/Maximal (good guys.) They (Hasbro, hell anyone BESIDES Fans) could give a Blot WHAT the namesake transforms INTO as long as their the leader, Prime just turns into some kind of Truck Because its one or the Strongest forms while still being NON-leathal in bases.

EX:

Autobots= Cars, trucks, motorcycles (some exceptions DO apply.)

Decepticons= Tanks, Jets, Construction Vehicles, Guns (one way or another.)

Anyway, Just because the 1ST Megatron was a handgun and looked a certain way doesnt lead to every single charcter afterward with the same name MUST be simular, that thinking just makes a you a sad sad fanboy.
