Classics Mirage

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I already posted this in another thread regarding the classics toys, but I am thinking about starting a thread with pics of the updates and paint mods that I have done on mine. Almost all of them have just a little tweak to make them just that much cooler to me.

So, I will start with Mirage.

Gave him an Autobot symbol, a shoulder mounted missle launcher, a buster rifle, some gundam hands, and allowed his back to extend farther back so it is not right behind his head:

Jetfire:

Painted his knee joints, shortened his missles and painted them black. Also painted the "ears" black so they didn't look so wide.

Most of you have seen the Megs adjustments:

More to come!

All of those are nice changes, I did a more "g1 toon megs" paint job on mine, but I've yet to do anything with the green on the wings.

Thanks HR... your name reminds me that I need to do that awesome mod to Classics Hot Rod.

The one where the door opens up... that is so cool! :)

you should really buy the repro labels for classics Hot Rod, they look AMAZING on him.

I want that Mirage!

Jetfire is cool too, I like the black ears, but I think the original was better.

Megs is still so cool. My philosophy(sp?) is that if you don't like a part, paint it black. It makes the part appear smaller or makes it appear to not even be there.

how did you mod mirages back?

It isn't actually that hard to do.

If you look at the top rear part of the cockpit or canopy, there is a horizintal pin... which would suggest a jointed piece. There is a little plastic tab under the window that keeps it closed. If you try while in robot mode to push it back, it will go... but the plastic tab holding it in place makes it a "one way deal". That is, when it is opened, the canopy really has a hard time closing again.

I used a dremel to shave down the tab - not all the way, but down enough to allow some resistance either way (open or closed) If it wasn't for that little plastic tab, it would almost seem as though Mirage was intended to have this feature.

Here is another pic:

Mirage looks way better without the car front behind his head...

I know you typed Dremmel, but all I hear is Nail Clipper... yeah I'm a bit of a butcher

i look at that second pic of mirage and i think he looks much broader now maybe just camera. or does the fact you effectively made hisbody bigger make him stand out more like hes been on the steroids
