probably an alien metal stronger than anything seen on earth. Remember, they are aliens not built or born here.

that depends on what continuity we are going by. according to the cartoon. the dinobots were built out of the strongest material period. and they were built on earth.

They were made mostly out of die cast until after the movie.

Then beast wars happened and they fell apart like the plastic pieces of crap they were. No wonder beast wars charactors never lasted long. :tflaugh1

I think ailen metal since their mouths can move. Some flexible quality metal.

Energonium - Energon carefully refined from energy form into an ultra-hard metal. There may be a little bit of imagination employed in this explanation. ;)

IMO, the thing is probably flexible yet very duriable. Can be stretched in thin quantities but isn't as elastic when thick.

I could've sworn they were made of something called "cybertronium",

the most durable element on cybertron...

I would think combinations, plating of high grade steel (it's stated more then once that they are susseptible to rust) with innards that are likely more ceramic of nature (is more durable). It's also likely that they have high grade rubber and plastic parts too. The most vulnerable places likely covered in the more exotic materials.
