Project: Shadow Dragons

Recommended Posts

This is currently a work in Progress.. Will update when fully finished.

With Films like Gone in 60 seconds and 2 Fast 2 Furious, the world of 'illegal' Street racing and car modifying has been thrust into the limelight. So it wouldn't be long before a means for the average joe (Or ones with no liscense) To drive one of these souped up bling machines. That time came with the launch of Need for Speed: Underground.

I love this game, Especially all the different mods you can use. But one think irked me the most. My favourite car is the Subaru impretza. I was horrified to find the old 2002 Model was in the game. I cannot stand this car because of 1 thing, the front end, with it's ugly stupid looking big headlamps.

But still, i preservered and completed the game using it (And many more, including my Skiyline, which my friends can't drive to save their life) And which i developed a 'team uniform' look for the cars. The Shadow dragons were born, with it's red and black pearlescent paintwork, the flame details on the side and a dragon motif on the side. I just wish that it looked good on the Subaru..

Then i got my hands on Alternator Smokescreen, now i like this one, as it's the 2003 model, with cool looks, So i said, why not put my NFS Shadow dragon livery on Smokescreen. And this is the result.

Currently, the main sections have been painted. The rear doors will have a lot more black on them, but i painted it all red in order to mark out where the red and black end easier.

The decal work will be tricky to do. I'm gonna have to blag a screengrab from a PC version (Unless i can find a suitable PC to hook my ps2 into) of the decal work, then print it onto transfer paper and apply it onto the car.

Car mode, Basic colours applied, needs decals added, and more black to replicate the full body vinyl from the game.

Pic of the vehicle mode, with the bonnet and door open. It's a little hard to notice, but the seat has been painted with a blue inner section, Also, the console dials, cd player and dashboard gauges have been painted in the same blue.

With the bargin sale purchase of an Armada Superbase Optimus Prime, i thought i'd try and make the Shadow Dragons a team, with the repainted Prime as their leader..

Work is going well on the trailer, and soon to start on the truck cab.. As a teaser trailer, i've recreated the colour scheme as best i can on the following pic. (And since it's my usual here, it's a TF girl)

Team: Shadow Dragons just got a new member...

Armada Optimus Prime.

Ok, these pics are still Work in Progress... I was just dying to put it all back together and see what the finished article might look like.. Sometime soon, i'll break it down back into parts so i can finish painting it :P

You may not think it, but a heullava lot of repainting work went on here... I've repainted both truck and trailer. "But WZ, Prime is already red, why did you repaint all the red on him?" Simple, it was the wrong red.. It's been painted in the same metalic red that Smokescreen was painted in..

"Oh my god WZ, you painted his windows, how will you transform his trailer without the infra red?" Fear not, the IR works just fine through the painted windows. the only thing that will not work is the LED in the fist.. i finally found where the broken wire was, inside the grey hinge piece.. sealed shut with 2 small pins.. blasted pins!

Base mode, Looks similar to Powerlinx prime's trailer and that was the biggest problem of the whole project, do i use original prime, or powerlinx prime..

Well in the end, my original prime light went dead, so i used that one and bought a new original prime, problem solved..

Basically, with robot and trailer base, everything that was blue was turned black, and everything that was red was turned.... um.. red. The grey parts were covered in silver and the gold parts will be in bright gold.. (Which will include the wheel rims too :P)

Finally, the big supermode! as always, i matched the colours to alt smokie, but i'm still not sure of the head, currently it's in black, but i thik it might need to go red..

I commend your creativeness but personally I am getting sick of seeing so many repaints of Subarus. Sorry.

A BIT OF A OFF TOPIC RANT: argg im so sick of this 2fast 2furiours BS thats used in the media. i own a modded car im into drifting and rally etc but the majority of us (99% that other 1% are 15 year olds messing with servays) hate it. its given us a bad name and makes us ALL look like thugs due to 1 or 2 people acting badly both on the movie screen and real life. and is used to often to discribe a whole scene that differs so much form johny low rider who's into rap and likes to look good then theres jimmy in a 180sx in to ska, punk etc like to race LEAGALY and talks tech in hills. I fall into the jimmy catigory my car is used on track days and i have planes to remove the interier and when people say "so you going to get some crome wheels and neons like me" and there not joking i just walk away think that guys a dumb ass whos going to hert himself sumday. ok im done

nice repants

p.s. if you are going to enter the scene dont show off at the first chance you get your going to get your self killed stay back go to track days talk to those in the know (DRIFTING.COM has some pro drivers form the us uk and japan that will talk to you)

P.s.s i can see that you can drive now so i asume you know by now to have respect for other drivers and the law(even if some are just sh1t and the law are a bit iffy at times but it pays to treat them nice i pays i know hehehe)

thanks you for saying that blitz if you didn't I would of

i felt i went a bit over seeing as 65% or so on this board are older then myself and can drive

p.s. if you do go on the drifting.com forums i go by blitz-wing. nissanguy_24, chas and drift xtreme are the know it alls as well as others like six gun who know there stuff

Nice repaints, i'm all for personalization of your own cars and stuff.

What I can't stand is all the young punks in their rice-rockets who try to goad me into racing them just 'cus I drive a 'vette. I finally got fed up with this one the other day driving home who kept passing me and braking in front of me, etc, so I just went for it and shut the little punk down Ran it at less than 130 for about 2 minutes before I slowed back down to cruising speed, took him 5 minutes to catch back up to me and by then I was at my exit :tfgrin Coulda gone up to 150+ but I didn't like the cross-wind I was driving through, i'm crazy but I ain't stupid

^ bet he was in a civic arg that car has such potental but it all to wast once people go the way of TF&TF(lets not even start on the stuff they got wrong in that film e.g. putting a SR(a nissan engine) in to a intergra(a honda/acura) its just not right and will bring you a blep load of problems)

on a side not do not underestimate the b18 or b16 honda engines you find in civic and integra they have quite a bit of potential for 300 or so bhp ok you need forced induction which has its good and bad points pending on which way you go. and its not like these cars were ment just for the quater mile.
