So here I am in New York with my GF. We go around looking at the sights and stores. I had planned out Kid Robot NY and Giant Robot NY for my urban vinyl toys. Also so i can say that I have been to the same stores in LA, SF and now NYC.

So after GRNY, we ask the clerk if there are any street vendors in the area. She says yeah the next street over has some. So we wander. I find an quaint little japanese toy shop. Has a minor amt of anime. but more on that later.

We keep walking and we see the street vendors across the street we are walking. As we cross the intersection i see to the left, down the cross street a Toy Tokyo. Now the font and color fooled me. It is in the same font style and coloring as the "toy story" logo. So i didnt connect it with toy Tokyo the online Urban vinyl store.

Worlds of differece from GRNY and Kid robot NY. I would describe those stores as sparse art space. This Toy Tokyo store lives up to its name. From the website and their art direction i placed them akin to the previous two stores. However I was wrong. they are jam packed with goodies. Just like a toy store/hobby shop in japan. I could not believe that I forgot all about Toy tokyo and just happen to stumble upon this gem of a store by accident or fate.

And that is where i found this jem. Bootleg Megatron.

Dunno why I have a limit on number of images. but anyway

i was gonna buy one of those with my xmas money because they used to be all over ebay like the plague but they're gone now :(

I like the packaging, and the toy seems to be above par for a knock-off. That's a pretty cool find! :thumb

I wish I could get one of those....

There were a couple eBay sellers a while back who sold these 007 Megatrons for anywhere from $5 up + more than 100% shipping (like mine was, hehe). Some of those were pretty shabby quality though like the ones I received that were already opened and taped back shut.

I got this one or one very similar. It is quite cool but the joints are pretty loose. One of these days I will have to firm up the joints and do something about the orange barrel.

I have seen this item also at a collectors convention in the Netherlands. It was not the best quallity, but he looks really nice.. The oly this was his loose joints..

Used to see em on ebay for $5-7

Bargain! nice find

They're a good quality KO. Face is easy to repaint, joints are mostly easy to tighten, and the orange paint comes off the barrel with little difficulty :thumb
