Thank you! It's about time someone came to their senses here.

He looks like he has a E-Unicron scheme going for him. With the dark grey and green and orange accents. I like it better than the origional.

I think these colors are how it SHOULD have been done the first time! I can't stand the soft, pastel sky blue and glow worm green trim on Megatron! They just don't say "BADASS" like these darker colors do! And the yellow even adds a kind of royal like quality to him as well. I would like to see this in the smaller, more affordable Takara version though. I can't justify spending 40 dollars TWICE, even if it is Big M himself!

So you're saying to me that yellow looks more royal than ROYAL blue?

Besides, strong white is the main color of most japanese villains, since its the inverse of red and black, the typical japanese hero colors. Whites, pinks, blues are less stereotypically evil, which is why I enjoy those colors more...

Purple looked good in the G1 toon, but I've seen several examples of G1 Galvy repainted purple, also Energon Megs repainted purple..and they both look terrible. Tfmaster did a great job on dyeing it, and it still just looked bad...

Hasbro's thinking that you have 3 posts.

I don't like this influx of new posters who's first 30 posts are nothing but complaining about a product that they just seen for the first time in 20 years...

I dunno if it's the same in Japan, but in Chinese culture white is the color of death. FWIW

BTW I totally agree with you about those "show-accurate" Galvy repaints. They just look bleah in real life for some reason.

Most time a demon character exists in anime, they have platinum/white hair...so the element does span the two cultures. E Megatron is basically in "Devil Power" colors, just like Devil Gigatron/Galvatron from TF2000/RID, and also Armada Galvatron/Supermode Megatron

I agree with you both. I think the pearl white and royal blue make for more of an elegant and classy evil. Purple would just be overkill.

That makes a lot of sense. Also -- and again, I know this to be the case in China; not sure about Japan -- red is the most auspicious color of all. As in, it's the color of good fortune, happiness, prosperity, and so on. Which might explain Optimus Prime, on a subconscious level at least (and the Autobot symbol?).

Personally, E. Megs has a kind of emotionless Mr. Freeze vibe to him that I really dig. I think it's fitting, given his cold-blooded killer persona.

And if they were going to make E. Galvy "show-accurate," they should maybe instead think of making him "film-accurate." In TF:TM, he was dark blue (to my eyes, at least), whereas in the TV show, most times he ended up looking more, well, lavender. Purple only works as a primary color on a few 'bots anyway. Cyclonus, cool. Shockwave, cool. Galvatron, blecch.
