TF Movie No. 64 On 70 Things To Watch This Year

Recommended Posts

JWT the largest advertising agency in the United States has released a list of Seventy Things To Watch In 2007. The Transformers movie has made it on the list as the only movie to watch at the #64 spot. Others on the list include Al Gore, the environmentalist, age 40 is the new 20, next generation video gaming, hydrogen fuel cell technology, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Thanks to "nelson" of Shoot For the Edit for the link!

What an odd list.

:wtf

For Transformers to be on anyway.

It should be in the top ten on that list. Who the hell would want to watch most of that junk?

I think it's more of a list of "These things are going to be important in 2007". Though I fail to see how one can compare a Transformers Life-Action Movie with Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology.

most people would be ashamed that their hobby came in so low on this list. instead, most TF Fans will parade this around like a badge of honer. it just goes to show you how desperate TF Fans are for their hobby to remain relevent in a world that's mostly forgotten it.

I see your point hornet -but i think thats typical of any geek/fandom. And there is nothing wrong with that.

I also dont see anything strange about this list. In terms of popculture and the rest of the items on that list - it all boils down to Economics, and the basic: "how will this affect my life" of the average american.

so things like fuel cells and hybrid dogs and natural hair all hit the average american differently.

And anyone who has a child, shops at target, or goes to McDonalds - will see a spike in TF related exposure.

There is a point, yes, that every member of a particular fandom will automatically keep his or her eyes open for anything related to their object of affection, where-ever they are. However, logically, a list like that should not hold something as basal and unimportant as toys, let alone specifically the toys we like. The fact that Transformers is in that list is almost purely thanks to the coming movie, which makes it quite relevant today. To be proud of that is a bit non-sensical, but, then again, so is just 'being proud' at itself.

I'm glad I'm not one of those people that will parade around spewing this as a way to keep my hobby relevant. Transformers should be in the top ten. Even if it sucks, it will most likely be more entertaining than most of that other crap.

I doubt the company's credibility if they're only giving Transformers #64. Everyone I run into is talking about seeing this movie.
