What's the articulation like on G1 Perceptor?

Recommended Posts

i want to buy the reissue but it doesn't look like he has proper sholder joints.

They're as proper as G1 gets. They can rotate up a full 360, and he's got some elbow articulation. As I recall, the legs are pretty solid in the articulation department, as well, but his hips only swing out to the sides.

so he's as good as Soundwave? kickass :thumb

Yep, he's got some good articulation for a G1 toy.

Nice! I'm gonna order him from Big Bad Toystore!

I would agree. He has some of the best articulation of all the G1 figures. Plus, the microscope works, sorta. Well worth getting. Just be careful w/ the microscope joint, it is fragile.

No, not by a long shot. The only merit is that Perceptor got knee joints that bends the proper direction, but other than that, Soundwave's articulation trumps over Perceptor's.

Soundwave:

Head - swivels 360 degrees horizontally, 90 degrees vertically.

Shoulders - swivels 360 vertically, 90 degrees horizontally.

Elbows - 90 degrees bend.

Wrists - None.

Waist - None.

Hips - 90 degrees vertically sitting position, 360 degrees horizontally (enabling sideways articulation).

Knees - 90 degrees reverse bend.

Feet - 90 degrees bend towards shin.

Perceptor:

Head - None.

Shoulders - swivels 360 vertically, No horizontal articulation.

Elbows - 180 degrees bend (can have his elbows bend backwards).

Wrists - None.

Waist - None.

Hips - No vertical articulation, 360 degrees horizontally, independent 90 degrees sideways articulation.

Knees - 90 degrees bend, 360 degrees horizontally.

Feet - 90 degrees bend away from shin.

Perceptor also has a tank mode, although Magnificus (the e-Hobby version that's a Decepticon and comes in Perceptor's pre-TF* colours) comes with a human pilot (Gamedes - who is a Microman like Kicker). That's a really neat set. :)

I hear Misfire is quite the posable lad, and Sludge is workable too...but the king of will always be Hun-Grrr.

Head - 360 degree swivel.

Shoudlers - Swivels 360 degrees.

Elbows - 180 degree bend (can have his elbows bend backwards)

Wrists - Can TECHNICALLY lean down on their transformation hinges, none if you ignore that.

Waist - None.

Hips - Nearly 180 degree vertical motion (full forward, near full back), equal amount in sideways articulation.

Knees - 90 degree bends to the back. Knees can also rotate sideways like the hips.

Feet - (from face forward), 90 degrees down.

Keeping in mind how much of this articulation remains in his beast mode, AND that he's the core of a combiner, Hun-Grrr didn't just hit the bar, he slammed through it like a hydra Kool-Aid man.

Hun-Grrr and Jetfire had some of the best articulations for the G1 line. If you count Predaking, which has almost every joint except the hip joints, head joints, and feet joints made it the biggest G1 TF with the best articulation.
